You get the visuals of a hollowbody; the comfort and performance of a solidbody The CS-356 semi-hollowbody electric guitar is the result of over 40 years of Gibson Custom Shop R&D. Gibson's Custom, Art, Historic division provides a fertile atmosphere for a select group of inspired artisans to carry on Gibson's century-old tradition of creating exquisite, investment-quality instruments that represent the highest standards of imaginative design and masterful craftsmanship. Gibson introduced the first semi-hollowbody electric guitar in 1958, and ever since, the company's luthiers have been perfecting the concept of mating the classic visuals of a hollowbody with the comfort and performance of a solidbody guitar. Making its debut in 2001, the CS-356 is the fruit of that quest - and it's a beauty. When you take the stage with the CS-356 - with its breathtaking carved quilt maple top - all eyes will be on you. A thoroughbred racehorse of a guitar If you like the classic look and sound of the ES-335, with its elegantly carved top, Gibson's Custom Shop has a big treat for you. Endowed with the same body lines, the CS-356 is scaled down to give you solidbody-style comfort. Its neck sports the Slim-Taper profile of iconic 1960s Gibson guitars, giving you an ideal platform for fast fretting, while the 24.75" scale length gives you the slinkiness to facilitate effortless string bending. The CS-356 may be a handmade guitar, but high technology has a hand in it as well. To ensure an ultra-precise setup, incredibly accurate intonation, and "just right" feel, your CS-356 is adjusted by one of Gibson's state-of-the-art Plek Pro machines before it leaves the Custom Shop. This axe has the goods to take your music anywhere it wants to go The overall body size of the Gibson Custom CS-356 is a comfortable 13" wide, 16" long, and 1-11/16" deep, giving you a guitar that feels just right, whether you're playing standing or seated. Cranking out a universe of tone are two Gibson '57 Classic humbuckers - serving up everything from warm and clear, to blistering full-shred - routed through the classic Gibson arrangement of two volume and two tone pots and a three-way toggle selector. Gibson's ABR-1 handles bridge duties, while your strings are anchored with a classic stoptail. The hardware is gold-plated, and the body is adorned with multi-ply white/black binding on top and back. The one-piece mahogany neck is capped with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearloid block inlays, while vintage-syle tulip tuners complete the look. With its premium workmanship, materials, and inspired design, the Gibson Custom CS-356 has the goods to take your music anywhere it wants to go.
