Wiring can be a problem

The Crown CM311 has an awesome element. The frame is comfortable. The positioning capabilities are superior. The bad news is that the wiring doesn't hold up. I've owned 3 of these headsets...and s... read more [+]till tour with two of them...one is in repair right now. Each of my CM-311's have failed repeatedly from wire breakage where the wire leaves the support of the frame. I suppose it is because the wire can swing back and forth at this point and because it is anchored there, it will eventually break. Your average "on-the-road-fix-it-shop" can't patch the broken wire because it is too fragile. I will continue to use this mic in all my future shows because I love the quality of the sound...I will always keep a spare handy, because I KNOW the wire will eventually fail again. close [-]

Haven't tried yet, but thought it was worth mentioning.

The first mic had a problem after almost two years - the back plate became loose from the mic element and caused all sorts of trouble. Crown sent me a brand new replacement (Crown mics carry 3 year warranty), no hassle!

In short, I highly recomment this mic; best mic for the money. close [-]
