The touch of the Clavinova CLP470 keyboard has been praised by pianists, the secret behind this superior feel and response is the same hammering system and spring-less mechanism as found in grand pianos. The Clavinova Graded Hammer 3 Keyboard faithfully reproduces the keyboard touch of an acoustic piano from the heavy feel in the lower range to the light feel in the higher range. Yamaha has a unique three-sensor system, which accurately senses and interprets the behavior of the keyboard, just like a grand piano.

The Clavinova Natural Wood keyboard could only be made by Yamaha, with woodworking techniques perfected from over a century of building pianos. Like grand pianos, the keys of the CLP470 are made of solid wood that has undergone a long drying process required for use in a musical instrument. These select keys are more resistant to warping and deforming than laminated wooden keyboards. The keys have three sensors that amplify sensitivity to the pianist playing them.

Synthetic ivory keytops
Synthetic ivory keytops feature a soft, slightly porous surface that gives keys added grip and natural friction for improved ease in playing. Recording/USB functionality
The Yamaha CLP470 has built-in recording functions. One function lets you record your playing and on playback you can select which hand you would like to hear, left, right or both, which is a great way to evaluate your performances. You can also store performances on a USB drive. Once recorded you can take your recording to a computer for playback, or even load them on portable music devices. You can hook your Clavinova CLP470 directly to a computer, via a USB cable, and store performance data to transfer between other Clavinovas.
