Electric Organ and Vintage Electronic Keyboard Tones

If you're a fan of the now-legendary Electro-Harmonix B9, then you'll definitely dig the C9 Organ Machine. Packed with nine new presets, the C9 provides you with ultra-realistic electric organ and vintage electronic keyboard tones. Whether you want a Doors-esque Farfisa tone, Deep Purple-esque sludge, or a Zeppelin-esque harmonic extravaganza, the C9 delivers. You get the same intuitive controls as the B9, letting you creatively tweak your sounds' modulation and click sounds. And if you already own a B9, you can send each pedal's signal to separate amps to sound like two individual players, or combine them for a massive stereo spread. At Sweetwater, we were blown away by the original B9, and we're just impressed by the Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine.

Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine at a Glance:
  • A full range of presets deliver a plethora of useful tones
  • Controls let you creatively tweak modulation and click sounds
  • Combine the C9 with a B9 for a complete array of compelling effects
A full range of presets deliver a plethora of useful tones

The Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine is a box full of classic electric organ and vintage electronic keyboard tones. In addition to a standard tonewheel organ, you also get 8 unique sounds that span decades. The Prog setting creates additional tones a fifth above and an octave below your original signal, which is great for fattening up single lines or making chords sound huge. The Compact setting gives you a remarkable vintage transistorized compact organ sound, ala a 1960s Farfisa organ. The Shimmer setting adds a gorgeous string-like sustaining sound to your guitar tone. The Lord Purple setting sounds amazing when you run it through a distorted amp or overdrive pedal, giving you beautiful, acid-drenched sludge. The Mello Flutes setting gives you access to the instantly-recognizable Mellotron mkII flute sound. The Blimp setting provides you with a massive Zeppelin-esque tone with magical upper harmonics. The Press Tone setting delivers the legendary sound of the organ at the Beatles' Apple Studios. And finally, the Telstar setting puts the sound of the Clavioline in your hands, as heard on hits like "Telstar," "Runaway," and "Magical Mystery Tour."

Controls let you creatively tweak modulation and click sounds

The Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine gives you precise control over important elements of each preset's sonic fingerprint like percussive click, modulation, attack/sustain, drawbar setting, or high frequency content. No matter which preset you use, you can create a plethora of sounds, both familiar and unique, by manipulating the C9's Mod and Click knobs. You can also create some captivating and inspiring tones by blending your dry guitar tone into the mix, using the Dry and Organ knobs. On top of that, you can use the C9's dual outputs to run two amps or set up more complex pedalboard configurations.

Combine the C9 with a B9 for a complete array of compelling effects

If you already own an Electro-Harmonix B9, the C9 isn't redundant. Not only does each pedal contain their own unique presets, you can also use both pedals in conjunction with one another, providing you with a complete array of diverse effects. By hooking both pedals to a channel selector, you can send each pedal's signal to separate amps to sound like two individual players, or combine the two for a huge stereo spread. You can also reverse the order of the channel selector to feed both pedals to a single amp without the need for an external mixer, letting you select each pedal individually or in combination.

Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine Features:
  • The perfect way to play classic organ tones with your guitar
  • Transforms your guitar tone - no tracking problems, glitches, mistriggers, or false notes!
  • 9 organ settings let you call up a plethora of unique sounds that span decades
  • Each tonewheel organ setting includes a rotary speaker emulation effect with speed control plus separate key click/percussion control
  • Blend wet and dry signals in the box or send them to separate outputs for complex rig setups
  • Combine the C9 with a B9 for a complete array of compelling effects
Harness the vibe of classic organs and vintage electronic keyboards with the Electro-Harmonix C9 Organ Machine!

EHX Magic

I've had a B9 forever and just got the C9. I use it in a number of different setups, but always before the amp. Sometimes with a separate, clean, amp on the Organ Out. It plays easier with a compressor in front of it, and generally better with finger picking. That said, most of the sounds of the C9 are great fill for the guitar parts and sound fantastic playing guitar as you usually would with the C9 as a pad.
Either way, it's a great instrument.

Excellent

I first bought an LPB-1 in 1969 and used that pedal for years when I was gigging and could push an amp hard. It was the pedal for boost for years. Fast forward and I bought one of the first large bodied POG's and was intrigued by the notion that you could make the guitar sound like a keyboard. Didn't need it when I was gigging as we had keyboard players. But once I quit playing professionally and started recording for my own personal hobby, I used the POG quite a bit even though I had a midi keyboard for adding keys. Electro Harmonix continues to amaze me with their products. I now added the C9 and Mel9 to my Pitch forks and they really do sound like organ and mellotron. (I do have Arturia keys and their mellotron program which is excellent also). But if you were going to play live and needed the keyboard sounds and don't have a keyboard player, these pedals are the way to go. You cannot play these pedals like a guitar player. Remember, organ has a lot overtones and 6 string chords do not work. Perfect fourths, 5ths, two notes or 1 note are what you have to play. Add some reverb and you've got it! This really expands the guitar players' repertoire'. I might add that the Jon Lord sound on the c9 plus a distorted guitar as a separate track sounds devastating!

What a nice sound and easy to find usable organ sounds

It didn't take me long to figure out to find usable organ sounds from this pedal. It was a little pricey but it is worth every penny. I like to send one signal to my guitar (the dry sound to my foot pedals) and the organ signal to our PA. It has been working very well and I am glad I purchased it.

Non-keyboarder's dream...

Once you set the dials and get your attack right, it is uncanny. Nice selection of organs. Adds something to my palette. Worth it. Mellotron is especially cool. Magical mystery tour stuff!

Great Sound!

I play harmonica through this pedal using a "Bulletini" mic, and people in the audience keep looking for the organ player- and there isn't one! GREAT sound! Love it!
