Sweetwater Advice

The C|24 is a fantastic control surface for any studio centered around Pro Tools. With 16 preamps built right in, and the ability to control your entire studio from this desk, you can easily get the control you need over your session, as well as have an eye-catching centerpiece to your control room.

Gone are the days where you edit and mix by adjusting parameters visually! You no longer have to worry about how an EQ Curve looks on screen, while missing how it sounds in the mix - with the C|24 you can control any parameter of any plug-in, and just reach up, turn a knob, and listen, just as was the norm with any large-format analog console. Ideal for project studios and large studios alike, the C|24 is a home run for any Pro Tools user!

Great Board!

I'm a really big fan of the C|24, it's got everything I need to mix and track readily available at a moments notice. It's a huge improvement in work-flow over the old Control 24 and the array of knobs and buttons easily access even the deeper function of Pro Tools. My only complaints about this unit are that the meter bridge LED's should really be larger and more detailed. They're good for reference but not really to get a super accurate reading off of. Other than that I feel like the only other thing that's slightly lacking is that adjusting plugin parameters feel a little weird without dedicated knobs like on the ICON boards. I realize that squeezing in a whole other section just for plugs would be just about impossible on a board this size, but nevertheless it is a little weird to see your pan/send knobs above each track transformed in to eq or compressor settings. Other than those two very minor complaints, this is an AWESOME board! I could not be happier with mine and the crew here at Sweetwater was great in getting me set up with exactly what I needed to get it all running and integrated in my studio!

Ok for mid-range use

Overall, I was ok with this console. But one thing became very apparent as I looked at the connections in the back...no digital I/O's! For me, this is a huge issue! I have a high frequency of sessions that are voice-overs, chamber instruments and a capella, having very pristine sound and avoiding multiple A/D D/A conversions is imperative. I'm actually happier with my Mackie D8B in that respect. If you don't really care much about or can hear the difference with multiple conversions, then, I would go for this unit.

Great Control, Great Feel

I use the C|24 at my studio for recording and mixing in the Pro Tools environment. Before I got this, I was anti-Digidesign control surface, but the functionality of this board changed my perception. The layout is really intuitive and it makes my mixing process a breeze!

C|24 is great +++

Prety much everything you need for a Project Studio or Home Installation of HD3. A large host like a Mac G5 is a given. LE users will also like the ease of handling larger mixes. Feels like a mini-ICON at 1/3 the price. Impressive response on one of our a 43 track mixes across the ethernet connection with no recognizable latency. The DB25s to the fanouts make cabling to our outboard gear clean and tidy. Using the fader-bank button with the jog wheel is just sick!

The unit is heavy. This speaks to the dense internal switching/routing/interconnects. Handle it gently... two people please. The external PS is a definite plus in lowering the noise floor. It has to be cleaned (and dusted) from time to time as the supply box is completely vented.

Not sure you would move across from the old Control24 unless 5.1 Monitoring is needed (which is really cool on the C|24 btw) but that is simply a cost/benefit calc that varies with each installation. If you do POST and do not have the largess for an ICON, this unit bridges well.

Our company runs outboard channels like UA6176, GT VIPRE and ManleySlam but the 16 internal pre's will come in very handy when an 8 piece band shows up at your door and you don't have racks of outboard gear...

All-in-all, a home run for Digi.

Props to Don Burleson and the Sweetwater Team for their tireless efforts getting this to our door.
