And I liked the way i... read more [+]t was USB so it helped solve a lot of problems when I was about to get a regular condenser mic along with an interface w/ phantom power. But now that i've got the Samson C03U it allowed me to plug it in right in my computer and make music. So i'd suggest this mic to anyone who has a home or even a professional studio that would like professional results and a professional look. close [-]

The sound quality is great if you are a beginner and it works seamlessly with Windows and Audacity. I haven't tested it on my PowerMac G4 yet but am waiting to. THe best feature about this mic are the polarity and bass roll-off switches.August 15, 2006 Music Background: Composer, Basic Live Sound, Musician, Student There are a couple of minor problems with the mic though. One is that I found that it is a little too sensitive for my tastes. I was picking up too much, but that could just be the fact that I was used to the standard consumer computer mic. This mic has no support for the Linux operating system as far as I know. Also, the software for the mic is hard to find for download from Samson's site. The software is unneeded though as long as you have a program like Audacity to make up for it. And the fact that it is a USB mic limits the cable length to about 5 meters (about 15 feet) so don't expect long distances with it. Luckily, it came with a cable though so I didn't have to worry. In all, it is a great buy (or at least to me it was as a beginner). It offers plug n' play support and excellent sound. If you are just starting, I'd recommend looking into this mic. close [-]
