Bone-rattlin’ Drive from DOD!

Toss the DOD Boneshaker distortion pedal on your pedalboard and instantly start serving up a vast array of fearsome distortion and overdrive tones. This stompbox’s intoxicating drive comes courtesy of a custom-designed analog circuit engineered by the mad scientists over at Black Arts Toneworks, offering tons of tonal possibilities with plenty of volume to make a lasting impression. No matter the guitar and amplifier commanding your rig, the Boneshaker’s 3-band parametric EQ makes it easy to fine-tune your tone as much or as little as you need to. Finding that ideal balance of power, depth, and bite is something guitarists at Sweetwater know can ultimately vary between the stage and the studio. Still, the DOD Boneshaker’s built-in EQ makes it easy to dial in the right distortion tone fast. From searing blues solos to metal and hard-rock riffing, the DOD Boneshaker has plenty in the tank to accommodate!

Get more from your distortion!

We all love the saturated growl of distortion, but sometimes your tone needs a subtle tweak to fit in the mix, whether you’re recording or performing. Thankfully, the DOD Boneshaker’s 3-band EQ gives you the power to boost mids, carve out space for the bass player, and add some top-end bite, plus plenty of other tonal alterations as you need them. And the Depth knob? Think of it like a Resonance control that you can find on amplifiers. That means more control over your tone’s low frequency characteristics, which sounds incredibly awesome with 7-string and low-tuned guitars!

Level and Distortion master controls also adorn the faceplate of this pedal. Level adjusts volume; Distortion lets you deliver the exact degree of overdriven intensity you’re searching for. Need just a bit of edge for that lead riff? No problem. What about a super-aggressive, oversaturated metal chug? Pour it on! That’s the beauty of the DOD Boneshaker — it’s up for anything.

Best pedal I've ever owned

Short review, I usually don't buy pedals, I like my Crate distortion. However, I heard of this pedal by watching a video on the tube. I had to try one out to see for myself. I bought one from Sweetwater, of course, where else would I shop, and tried it out on my amp. I was totally blown away with the versatility. I can shape my sound any way I like. I'm more than satisfied! Thank you Sweetwater.

Killer tone but lacking

K I just got the DOD BoneShaker distortion pedal to play with. the thing is amazing for tone. not the heaviest distortion out there by any means, but it makes up for it in tone and articulation. I will be recording it tomorrow and seeing all the fun things I can come up with, but with a 3 band PEQ and a depth knob there are very few limits so far. the thing works with bass guitar as well by design so that just tickles me to no end. tomorrow though I will put it through it paces with my 27v EMG equipt 7 string Jackson. I am a distortion junky, I could care less about any other effect. but I must have my distortion. The higher the gain the better lol. my goto set it to use a DOD FX86(death metal 1st gen) and a Rocktron 3rd angel as a stereo pair. so my demands are high. but for not being the heaviest of my pedals I will say it is hands down the most versatile that I have. the gain knob goes down to a vintage barely a speck of dirt to a modern heavy chugger that retains all the little nuances of the player and the guitar. as of now I highly recommend it to all even if just for the tone shaping it does. I may get a 2nd lol. on a 7 string this think is lacking in the gain dept for metal on its own. in front of a tube amp giving it a push like a tube screamer, this thing will destroy all pedals in the way of tone and gain. but for a standalone DI driver for metal it is not. On bass guitar this thing is perfect for gain DI or amp. I cranked it tweaked it and pushed it to its limits today. for lead tone, this thing just lavishes you with tone on every note. but for a rhythm metal chug add a tube amp to really get the most from it.

It was born to stack but it fights it's fate

This thing is loud and well thought out. The EQ is brilliant, and maybe too smart, so take some time learning it. On it's own it does okay and will get you some excellent tones. Not as metal as one might expect from the designer, but definitely will add a bit of punch to your fuzz for a doom rig. The only problem is that it won't play well with everyone. There is a lot of trial and error with this beast if you are looking to pair it with more dirt. It might create terrible hums, or buzzes, and some units have been known to be a bit noisy. If you do not own a noise gate (such as the EHX silencer) then you probably should consider getting one if you are looking at this seriously.

DOD Boneshaker

It's a dynamite pedal that the reviews said it would do. But, go direct from guitar to pedal to amp, it is spectacular. But it does no play well with friends. Insert it at the front end of the "volume" pedal sequence, which is recommended, and the pedals that follow may not work. I wanted to put my MXR Custom-Comp
Deluxe compression pedal in front of the Boneshaker. Didn't work. It's a great pedal, but it will require a lot of work to get it to work with the rest of your board.
