BETA 91 DESCRIPTION

Shure Delivers the Ideal Kick Drum Mic!
For kick drums and other bass instruments, nothing compares to the Shure Beta 91. The Beta 91 condenser cartridge combines superior "attack" and "punch" for studio quality sound - even at the extremely high sound pressure levels encountered inside a kick drum. Its boundary effect design produces a strong, solid low-end response that has been specifically tailored for heavy bass applications. Its cardioid pattern provides outstanding gain before feedback and superior rejection of unwanted sound, making the Beta 91 ideal for live concert applications. What's more, the low-profile design of the Beta 91 eliminates the need for external mounting hardware.

Shure Beta 91 Kick Drum Microphone Features:
  • Frequency response shaped specifically for kick drums and other instruments

Sweetwater Expert Advice

"One of the trade-offs of live concert location recording is to be "in harmony" with the FOH engineer. Part of that harmony is agreeing on what mics to use for both his live mixing needs and my split to be recorded. I was worried about his choice of a Shure Beta 91 on the kick drum for live use, but worried am I no more. With some Waves SSL EQ and the Fairchild 670 compressor back in my Pro Tools|HD system, it's the perfect kick drum sound. I think I found my new kick mic."
