The FENDER® Bassman® 250 HD is an elegant piece of bass amplification designed to deliver full power through a compression driver horn and two great sounding 10" drivers. Designed to be portable, yet powerful enough for gigging, the Bassman 250 HD has a high-quality XLR output, great for recording or amplifying a live signal.

Fender Bassman 250 HD Amplifier at a Glance:
  • A compact powerhouse of an amp!
  • Built-in compressor plus 4-band EQ and "Contour" controls
  • Pad, line out and other features for pro use
  • Ruggedly built for action

A great combination of power and tone shaping in a compact amp!
Don't let the Bassman 250 HD Head's light weight - only 39 lb. - fool you! This is a powerful bass amp, with 250 watts of solid-state power.

Built-in compressor plus 4-band EQ and "Contour" controls
The Bassman 250 HD amp gives you plenty of tone-shaping power. The built-in compressor has a fixed threshold and adjustable ratio to provide a solid signal without overloads. The special "Contour" control is a variable scoop applied to the MID section for slap-style playing. In addition, you've got 4-band EQ control: Bass, Low and High Semi-Parametric Midrange (Freq/Level), and Treble. A "Room Balance" control compensates for difficult room acoustics.

Pad, line out and other features for pro use
Recording with the Bassman 250 HD is easy with the included XLR balanced line out. It features an independent level control, a pre/post switch and a ground lift. The Bassman 250 HD's 6dB input pad handles high-output basses. You can control the high frequency horn with its 3-position attenuator switch (Full, -6dB, Off). A mute switch keeps your amp ready, while the built-in effects loop lets you connect your favorite pedals. Plus, the Bassman 250 HD includes a tuner output for silent tuning and a headphone jack that automatically cuts the speaker signal.

Ruggedly built for action
Your Bassman 250 HD will hold up for the long run, with a real wood cabinet! The black carpet covering and brushed aluminum control panel will look great for years. So add it all up: great Fender sound, flexible tone shaping, pro features, and sturdy design, and you'll realize that the Bassman 250 HD Head is the ideal choice for steady gigging or weekend use!

The Fender Bassman 250 HD is a great match for Fender Bassman 115 or 410 speaker cabinets.

Reviews

A great cheaper head, but could use more power

by Mark B-H from Boyne City, MI

Music Background: 20 years of giggin'
I've been playing this for about a year, and I'm mostly happy with it. I'm running a p-bass through it, and it produces a fat sound. The two middle EQ controls are very, very nice to have. In fact,... read more [+] all the controls are nice and seem to do what they need to. The compressor works fine, but there is a slight click when it kicks in that isn't present on more expensive dedicated compressors. Is it something you'd hear during a gig? No way, but it still bugs me a bit when practicing. Finally, it could be louder. Note that you aren't supposed to turn it up much louder than halfway--I double-checked with Fender on this point, and they confirmed that running it for too long above half might drive the amp too hard and cause it to heat up and cause bad things. My understanding is that this is a common guideline with solid-state bass amps (I heard it from the manufacturer of my cab as well), but nonetheless, that means you're not getting 250 watts in actual practice. All this said, however, it sounds really good and is worth the money. close [-]

good head,...not great presence

This bass head is a good quality head. I played with it about a year or two, and it definently did the job for these smalls gigs that i was playing.never had an issue with it breaking, and belive me w... read more [+]e have put it through hell. I would say what pushed me away for this head is just the fact that it tires out during gigs,(it gets real muddy). and it doesnt have the power to stand up to say,..a fender deville. If your guitarist got that baby cranked up then your looking to be drwoned out, also it kind of looses it's punch in open areas. All in all for the price and the quality, it's probably the best you could get,... brand new. close [-]
