The Manley Backbone mastering insert switcher lets you easily choose, integrate, and control up to eight pieces of outboard gear to put in the signal path. Based on years of experience building custom mastering consoles, Manley put the functionality and convenience of some of the company's best features into a stock box that's made to make your mastering jobs easier, thus the Backbone! You get controls for input and output gain, three inputs, eight inserts, a fully balanced signal path, left/right reverse, selector buttons, mid-side selectors, a handy SWAP order button, and much more on the Backbone!

Integrate your mastering gear
Manley has been designing and building custom mastering consoles since the early 1990s. Now comes a stock mastering insert switcher that combines the convenience and functionality found in those custom jobs with the flexibility to work within just about any mastering rig. Get the most out of your outboard gear while you streamline your workflow with the Backbone.

Incredible control and functionality
Between allowing you to control input and output gain (plus bypass gains for a passive signal path), having reverse left and right as well as polarity reverse capability, and boasting an ultra-high-quality Penny & Giles rotary fader/mixer, the Backbone gives you great insert choices. There's a mid-side matrix for inserts 2 and 3, a SWAP order button that lets you change the order of gear on inserts 4 and 5, and an injection button for the mixer/fader between inserts 7 and 8.
