From Our Research Team:Authentic Tone Wheel Combo Organ! For years, if you wanted the sound of a real tone-wheel organ, there was only one instrument that could deliver! In today's world of virtual modeling and synthesis, sometimes a real instrument is just what the doctor ordered!Meticulous re-creation of the tone-wheel system Korg's state-of-the-art DSP technology has made it possible to precisely re-create the unique sound that, until now, could only be produced by the real thing. Two different tone-wheel sounds are provided: "VINTAGE" and "CLEAN." The BX-3's amazing realism even extends to such details as allowing you to add the "leakage" noise generated by the tone-wheels, and the ability to adjust their overtone levels. Drawbars - the backbone of the organ sound The BX-3 features two sets of nine drawbars that duplicate the sonic characteristics of the originals - including the proper foldback settings and harmonic distortion. And you can easily select between the presets and these two sets of "live" drawbars while performing for that real organ-playing experience. The BX-3 also provides an EX mode in which all 18 drawbars can be utilized as one extended palette. Classic sounds and more With 128 programs, the BX-3 is ready to cover a wide range of musical styles including pop, hard rock, jazz, gospel, and rhythm and blues. Plus, Korg's proprietary "REMS" modeling technology is applied to create effects that add further authenticity to the organ sound. The rotary speaker effect, so important to the organ experience, is recreated here with total realism. Features:

ReviewsThe real deal!
by Havlicek from East Hampton, NY USA
Having just finished talking about the current lineup of organs at an online forum, I wanted to add my review here while the thoughts were still fresh in my mind. While there are many ways to simply ... read more [+]add an organ track to a song using various samplers...if you want to PLAY organ, an actual organ is the only way to go. Of all the currently-available organs, the BX3 is easily the king...including the Hammond XK3. The attention to detail on this thing is nothing short of stunning and even the Leslie-sim is so good that you'd really have to work long and hard to justify using a Leslie (figuring-in the mics and hassles). The cabinet-work is attractive and while the overall style of thing is sort of "post-modern"...I could easily see this piece comfortably sitting in a church, living room, studio or stage.June 10, 2006 Music Background: Musician, recordist, songwriter Sound-wise, Korg really did their homework when designing the BX3 as it just reeks of authenticity and you can get as microscopic as you want when editing the sounds. In a playing situation...call-up a preset and then toggle between the preset and the drawbars. The preset's "global" settings like distortion, Leslie/amp etc. stuff will still apply to your drawbar settings...nice! On a related front, about anything will sound neat going through either a real or a good copy of a Leslie...but stop the Leslie for jazzy/precussive stuff or distorted rock stuff and many organs' sound falls-apart. The BX3 still sounds meaty and full...wonderful! The "purists" will complain that it's not a real organ and that's a load of nonsense. What makes a real organ isn't the weight, age, noisiness or difficulty of using the thing...it's the sound and the playability...and the BX3 is as real as it gets. If I were handed a mint B3/Leslie tommorrow knowing what I know about the BX3...I'd sell the Hammond in a heartbeat. close [-] Sweetwater Advice
Kenny BergleReally many of my customers like it better than a B3! I think that's because it's so much lighter (duh) and still sounds like the real thing. Also the wood case and stand make it righteous! Hammond RE-BORN!

This... read more [+] is the Hammond Monster re-born If you can think of a sound that that old HAMMONDS CAN MAKE, then the Korg Bx-3 CAN SURE DELIVER that same sound with dead-on accuracy. This baby is WAY better than the "Hammond" a.k.a. Suzuki XK2, and it's miles ahead of there new XK3 as well. THE WATERFALL KEYS ARE just perfect! AND THAT Leslie! ONE word, WOW! this thing has the best leslie simulation of ANY clone out there! And the cool part is, it can do ANY leslie you want.. 122, 145, 50C, WHATEVER! If you DIG that wonderful Hammond Sound, but don't want a bad back or a bill from the roadies, then the BX-3 is for you! (note, i DO NOT work for Korg INC, or Korg USA) I am just a keyboardist/organist who wanted THAT sound, and looked for years and never found it... UNTILL NOW.. Amazing! Just Amazing! close [-] |
