Impressively Accurate Yet Affordable Nearfield Monitors!

When we first heard the original Dynaudio BM5As, everyone at Sweetwater was deeply impressed by their performance. The absolutely huge sound coming from these little monitors quickly made them a favorite choice around here, and judging by their overall popularity, the rest of the pro audio world agreed. Dynaudio is back with the BM5A MKII - prepare to be blown away all over again! Beginning with an already-excellent design and making subtle yet significant improvements, the BM5A MKII is the true successor to the original BM5A.

Dynaudio tightened up the BM5A MKII's output, providing you with a well-defined sweet spot and cutting down on room reflections. Handcrafted aluminum drivers, an updated amplifier, and newly designed soft high-frequency waveguide technology step up the BM5A MKII's definition and frequency range. The addition of high-, mid-, and low-frequency filters, as well as a highpass filter option, gives you all of the flexibility you need to tune your BM5A MKIIs to your room or to combine them with a subwoofer. If you're looking for a set of nearfield monitors that will give you professional-standard, laser-beam-tight frequency precision at a price that's too good to pass up, then you need to grab a pair of Dynaudio BM5A MKIIs!

I have been using the Alesis MKII's (the old version) without the ports. I have struggled with the mixes until I bought these from Sweetwater. I soon found out that the old style MKII's were giving me... read more [+] a false since of the stereo field. I also couldn't figure out why my mixed always seemed muddy and too bassy. It was because of the missing low end response and the clarity. My control room has been sound treated properly as well and I have used analyzers to make sure the sound is right. Ever since I have been using these monitors I was able to fine tune the micing for tracking and also make the mixes gel. Great monitors for the price. If you like to hear the bass and don't want to buy a sub, this will work for you. A clear choice! I love them! close [-]

Awesome.

Sweetwater Advice

Danielle Cummings
If you thought you knew the BM5A, think again... the updates they made to the MKII series are worth a listen. This speaker can cover all genres of music with ease, and has smooth linear coverage, even down to the low ranges. After listening to these for several hours, I found that my ears were not experiencing fatigue as they would with many other monitors. Overall, a great pair of speakers to step up to!
