100% custom-designed and built drivers, cabinets and electronics Like all Dynaudio monitors, the BM 15A is completely custom-designed and built to assure a perfect match of components. The drivers are specifically designed to avoid acoustic and performance problems that would require extensive manipulation of crossovers to correct. The cabinets are crafted in Dynaudio's Denmark facility and minimize resonance while enhancing bass response. And the BM 15A's crossovers, protection circuitry and power amplifiers all are optimized for maximum performance, phase-coherent reproduction and high SPLs. A 10" woofer that outperforms most 12" drivers Key to the BM 15A is its 10" low frequency driver. Dynaudio molds its cone of Magnesium Silicate Polymer with their special "flat cone" geometry for outstanding transient response and minimal breakup. With a cast aluminum frame, oversized vented magnet and 4" aluminium alloy voice coil this driver outperforms most 12" speakers in terms of power output and sheer punch. In fact, the BM 15A delivers clean, tight bass response down to 30Hz. Its soft dome of specially coated silk provides excellent response with no ringing or resonances. Master-built bass reflex cabinet Also built in Dynaudio's plant, the BM15A enclosure is constructed of hand-selected premium woods and quality veneers. Its front bass port contributes to the BM15A's solid low frequencies. Radius edges on the front baffle reduce boundary effects and improve the overall sound quality. And with its elegant matte finish the BM 15A looks every bit as good as it sounds! Precision electronics for the cleanest possible signal Thanks to its custom-designed phase-coherent electronic crossover with a 30dB per octave slope the BM 15A offers a seamless transition between drivers. The m... read more [+]ost important plus of these speakers to me is the phase-aligned crossover. Most speakers seem to have their tweeters designed on Mars and woofers on Venus and then have a hell of a time making them play well together resulting in a cloudy, phasey crossover right in the most critical frequency band for music. Dynaudio, more than any other company I've seen, went to great lengths to use similar materials and design both components to seamlessly work together from the inception of the design.February 24, 2011 Music Background: Studio Owner, Recording/Live Engineer, Producer, Musician It's easy to get blown away by ribbon tweeters but what at first seems like a less articulate top end on the Dyns is actually a more true-to-life, unfatiguing top that blends effortlessly with the woofer giving you a much more accurate imagine overall. I only have one reservation in recommending them, and it's a big one. These speakers are really mid-field, not nearfield. They're big and loud and they fill whatever room they are in. That means you ARE going to hear your room for better or worse. If you are not working in a professionally designed room, then I would suggest going for the smaller BM6A along with a sub. In a good control room the BM15a don't really need a sub unless you're working on hip hop. I've found that to really get the low end accurate in my less-than pro designed room that I needed an acoustic correction system. I went with the KRK ERGO. The combination of the ERGO and the BM15a is phenomenal, but it's an expense to factor in. That caveat notwithstanding, I can work on these speakers all day/night and feel great and the work is fun, unlike some speakers that are "flat" to the point of not sounding pleasant. close [-] The Best world Monitor/ i strongly recomend
