The look
In the Explorer Bass, Gibson gives you a uniquely appointed instrument. The reverse body style is very confortable and balanced - and it looks incredible. Juicy nitro lacquer highlights the slick SilverBurst finish, along with black pickups and Speed Knobs, and the absence of a pickguard. The Explorer is a bass with which you can really express your individuality.

The sound
The Gibson Explorer Bass serves up tight, focused sound. Several factors are at work here, including a mahogany body and a maple set neck, a 3-point bridge with individually adjustable saddles, a gently back-angled droopy Explorer headstock, PLEK-cut Corian nut, and two hot Thunderbird Bass pickups with ceramic magnets for amazing punch and clarity. All in, this bass gives give you incredible sonic versatility.

The finish
The Gibson Explorer Bass wears a gorgeous nitrocellulose lacquer finish that gives the instrument a timeless, classic look. Nitro finishes - standard back in the '60s - are significantly thinner than today's polyurethane finishes, allowing the axe to "breathe."
