A real beauty with eyes opened or closed!

I've only been playing bass for 3 years. I've been playing an Ibanez. I wanted a faster and better sounding bass. I shopped around thought I wanted a Fender P bass until I played this Gibson SG. WOW! It is FAST! But that alone isn't enough. My new axe must also be a fat, growling machine. This baby more than fits the bill. For me, the factory strings had to go. I put a set of medium gauge Rotosound flatwound's on it and got exactly what I wanted. The fact that it is a gorgeous instrument is just icing on the cake. For some, maybe a short scale isn't what you want, but I think you should play one before you decide. It isn't cheap, but it will hold its own against anything in its price range. Another factor in this purchase is the the fact that I've been playing Les Paul's for over 25 years and love a Gibson neck. Wish I could give it 6 stars.

A Rock Machine

I've owned a few basses since '70, and this one, recently purchased, is my all-time favorite. Thin, light body; bass-side arm sculpting is brilliant; short, thin, superfast neck with gorgeous trapezoid inlays; headstock MOP inlays are 1st class; perfectly finished; tone is big bottomed through a '73 V4-B w/8x10 cab.

A masterpiece just to look at!

Well this is a unique bass. I also play a Fender P/bass and these two are like night and day. First impression is this is a beautiful bass! I had to constantly adjust the neck for a few months(Which was easy to do) and now she`s settled in. The reason for a 4 rating is if you`re into slap or modern sounds this is not for you. If you want a tone machine that`s easy to play here`s your baby. PS It`s very light and that short neck is easy to play....ENJOY! use a big amp too........
