I had ordered the Les Paul goldtop Bass from Nick Church at sweetwater and he discussed with me what the differences was between each gold top was and also showed me pictures of the different models.... read more [+] He also told me he could have the bass delivered to my front door set up and ready to play Saturday morning, which was great because I had a gig Saturday at 1 PM. It came on time and I played it at that gig along with another gig I had that night. All I heard all day and all night when I played it was how great it looked and how fantastic it sounded, (I played it through a Mark Bass CMD112 combo with the 112 mark bass ext cab). The techs at sweetwater also did a fantastic job on setting the bass up so I could play at my early gig without having to work on it. and what is really cool about it is when I take a break between sets, it looks so great when the lights hit it on the stand, but I still thinks it looks better when it is sitting in my hans.I would like to say a BIG thanks to the people of gibson and to Nick Church and Sweetwater for the work they did on sending me a work of art that I love to play close [-]

I Own five diffent basses P-bass, J-bass,Ibanez,SG bass and now a Les Paul bass. The Les Paul blows all the others away. The 3-way switch is just icing on the cake, with the 2 volume an 2 tone knobs you can make any tone you need. The gold top is perfect. Can't say enough about this bass, love it. If you don't have one you need to get one. Best bass i have played in 44 years. Thanks Sweetwater for the fast shipping and Gibson on making this bass. close [-]

The neck is more like a Thunderbird neck as compared to the very narrow neck of the 70's version. This bass is a great playing and sounding instrument. December 10, 2012 Music Background: Professional musician - bass player I think the only things I would change is I would like to see a pickguard on the instrument. And the older basses had an engraved nut cover. I think this would give the bass a little more class.
