The Burl Audio B80 Mothership empty converter chassis represents a completely new way of approaching digital conversion. You can create a custom, modular converter system with up to 80 channels of D/A conversion, or up to 40 channels of A/D conversion! The B80 Mothership is a 4U, 10-slot empty chassis that you can install any combination of Burl A/D and D/A converter cards. A 1U power supply is included, providing ample power for the high-headroom, low-noise converters. Burl Audio converters are renowned for their tape-machine-like response to signal level, giving you control over your signal's tone through gain staging. Burl digital converters give you a world-class analog front end with amazingly deep and detailed conversion, and the B80 Mothership makes it possible!

Innovative converter design, outstanding audio performance
Burl Audio's series of A/D and D/A converters sound strikingly close to an analog tape machine's front end, with the ability to shape your tone based on how hot your signals hit the converters. They sound more like a world-class analog front end than anything on the market, as well as providing digital conversation that's as precise, rich, and detailed as possible. Each A/D converter channel is transformer balanced, and the hotter the signal level the more saturated the signal becomes. You'll find you can shape your sounds the way you used to do with analog equipment, with the benefit of an ultra-precise converter to capture the tone.

Modular flexibility
Once you hear the analog goodness of Burl's converters, you'll want to run every channel of your mixes through them! Thanks to the B80's modular design, you can install any combination of 2-, 4-, or 8-channel converter modules for a seriously high I/O count. But even if you don't need 80 channels of conversion, Burl promises new modules will be available in the future to further enhance the functionality of the Burl B80 Mothership in the recording studio.

When a power supply takes up its own rack space, you know that some thought went into the design.
