This little monitor is as good as it gets for me! I am a singer, and I wear hearing aids. I use it about chest high 3 or so feet to one side, and the volume control and tone is very adequate. I also plug the headphone jack on the back of our flat-screen tv into the cd input of the monitor for old movies to fill out the sound, as the tv sound is not very full at times.
