ReviewsThe keys to a better tomorrow
by Gene from Philadelphia
This is a GREAT controller. The keys feel wonderful, the after-touch is sensitive, and the faders are smooth. I really like the fact that rotary encoders are 360 endless. An interesting addition to... read more [+] this is the 8 drum pads. They are big and responsive. On top of that you have assignable transport controls and assignable buttons. M-Audio thought of just about everything and they put it into a light weight and sturdy machine with incredible programming and implementation options. I've had mine for a couple years now and it just keeps on going despite use and hours of hard playing. If you want control of your midi, look no further! M-Audio's got your back on this one. close [-]

I have had this for 3 weeks and used it live 3 times so far. Wow, I really like this keyboard. Specifically, the action is perfect. I normally use an M-Audio 88 Key weighted keyboard for my main wo... read more [+]rk, but I wanted a 2nd keyboard specifically for lead work. October 26, 2008 Music Background: Live Praise & Worship Sorry, but a weighted keyboard for lead work is a bit too hard for me. And the typical non-weighted synth-like keyboards feel like a TOY, which makes me feel sick. Fortunately, I think M-Audio designed this keyboard JUST FOR ME! Yay! The snappy kickback-action is wonderful, no kidding. Also, the keyboard is so light, and because of that, I can get by with a lightweight bag for toting it (something I wouldn't try with my 88 key keyboard). The things I would like, however are: 1.) More buttons which I can use for patch-changes. Like maybe 50 buttons just for that! 2.) I'd like to be able to transmit on more than 4 channels simultaneously. Why not all 16? What are we trying to do: save some trees or something? 3.) I'd also like to have a THRU connection. The fact that M-Audio has nixxed these is a mystery to me. I guess they don't think anyone plays live anymore ... only in their home studios? 4.) Along with the 16 channels output of MIDI, I'd like to have multiple midi-outs, and the ability to program which channels go to which MIDI out. 5.) Hey, while we're fooling with MIDI connectors, how about giving us 2 or more MIDI in's which do a MERGE, so we don't need to have a merge box when using another keyboard with this one? Overall, I like this keyboard! close [-] A great controller for the price

When you want to get away from that plastic feel of a cheaper controller, but don't want to spend a large sum of money, the Axiom 61 should fit the bill nicely for you.December 27, 2007 Music Background: Drums, guitar, keys, songwriting, computer based recording. If your a pianis... read more [+]t who wants that full weighted feel, then you might be best to try another controller. But for the hobbyist or for the player where the keyboard is a second instrument, the Axiom should work great. I use it with Logic Pro to control my software and find the feel and response of the keyboard is good. The velocity settings may have to be adjusted to your particular playing preference, but other then that, it's a great value for a controller. close [-] M-Audio Axiom 61
