This keyboard does exactly what it's supposed to do. I use it with Logic and it has been flawless. The keys feel nice and the assignable knobs and faders are a great feature. Highly recommended.
April 9, 2013 Music Background: Musician Amazing amount of capability for the price
by Rob Tuttle from Ormond Beach, FL
Although I own several high end midi keyboards (76 key Korg M3, 88 key Yamaha CP-300 Stage Piano, Roland Juno) is wanted a smaller midi DAW to interface with Logic Pro 9 via my Mac-book Pro. WOW was I... read more [+] surprised by the the M-Audio Axiom 49. With virtually no setup it worked perfectly with Logic - allowing me to control virtual instruments, track volumes, Logic's recording transport (play, record, forward, reverse functions) as well as providing perfectly mapped pressure sensitive drum pads - all right out of the box. The 49 key option was perfect for me (a keyboard player) as it allows space for bass and treble clef real time playing without taking up too much space on my studio desk, while the transpose function allows me to shift the entire keyboard up or down in octave increments to access the entire keyboard as needed. The action is good - it falls between full weighted piano action and spongy synth feel - allowing you to lay down any type of piano or synth track. In my opinion this keyboard is worth 4 times the price on ease of use value ALONE. Previously I had purchased one other M-Audio product - a set of small digital powered monitors. They were very well built and worked very well. That purchase made me comfortable trying M-Audio's keyboard. I have already recommended this keyboard to my musician friends, and I highly recommend this product. close [-]

March 10, 2012 Music Background: Music Producer Great Durable Keyboard

I’ve owned the Axiom 49 mk2 / version 2 for a few months now. I prefer the encoders on the new version because they are smooth. In the past they would click when rotated which kept me from buying th... read more [+]e keyboard, but it feels more natural now with smooth encoders. The keyboard itself is well constructed, and sturdy. I like it because I can assign whatever value I want to the encoders to control the older pots on my hardware. This way I can save the life of older hardware by being rough on the axiom (and play how I want) without worrying. You can tell it’s designed with software in mind, and it works great in that respect too. After installing DirectLink it’s just plug and play. I like the action of the keys, but I would recommend visiting a local music store and testing it before deciding to buy it…some people have different preference in how the keys feel. I hate keys that are too tight and the ones on the Axiom feel just right.January 20, 2011 Music Background: As far as cons, the keyboard doesn’t come with any accessories (except the USB cable). It’s USB powered, but it has the ability to use a power supply. This is not included, so if you use it only for midi out, you will still need to plug it in to USB unless you buy the power supply. It’s not a big deal because most home studios are going to have a computer. You have to turn off midi over USB to send midi data through cables, so a heads up on that (easy switch, explained in manual). Also, the “enter” key is on the far right of the keyboard if you’re looking for it while editing the patches. I also suggest checking out the .pdf manual before buying it, because there’s a lot of capability in this thing. close [-] Also popular
