Today there are so many variations of controllers to choose from and I purchased the Axiom out of guessing what would fit my needs. Even from opening the box, the keyboard seemed to have everything needed for DAW production. The semi-weighted keys feel great and authentic with a clean action and after touch. The knobs and pads are easy to assign to the most diverse parameters in DAW's to third party plug-ins and virtual instruments. The DirectLink functionality is brilliant, but took a while to manually map with custom ideas. The driver was easy to install and has never crashed or failed. The 25 keys are not a problem because the octave shift button is easy to reach and close to the playing field, right above the pitch and mod wheel which both have great action and accuracy. It has sleek looks and a clean contoured surface with easy accessibility to all buttons and controller functions. Works great in the studio, stage, and even on my DJ rig with the pads. I was surprised it worked well with Ableton Live which is a great advantage to DJ's. Aside from being USB bus powered, I use it frequently as a MIDI controller powered by a DC 9V power supply, which is connected to various sound modules and even drum modules, and is a great live solution. The encoders and slider are fast and tactile. Most people claim that a few extra bucks to upgrade to the Axiom Pro is a worthwhile investment, but overall, the Axiom standard shows up the Axiom Pro in alot of areas like functionality, portability, and overall value. So thumbs up to M-Audio for this superb controller that gets the toughest of audio production and stage work done.

from March 24, 2012Music Background: Going to school for sound engineering, played drums for over ten years, work at a local music store Great ProductThese are great keyboards. The semi weighted action makes it easy to play, without feeling cheap. Our school has fifteen of them, and they've been working fine for a year now, even with all the students that go in and out of the lab. The pads work well, the knobs feel nice, the display is easy to read, just a great all around keyboard for non-piano-specific playing
