Really Great Product...

I'm a project studio owner, multi-instrumentalist of 26+ years, audio engineering school grad & former college music major. I'm not a pro guitarist, but I've been working with guitarists & slowly learning guitar now for a few years. I guess you could say I'm a guitar hobbyist who's probably been around more guitarists than guitarists. I'm an IK Multimedia fan, always expanding my virtual libraries and effects, and I purchased Hendrix based on some great reviews I've read. I'm glad I did.
After putting Hendrix Amplitube through the paces, my first impressions are highly favorable. Of course, there is no way you can 100% emulate a setup, but the technology is so good now, with a little tweaking you can darn near reach perfection. There are a LOT of presets on here, with some presets being only slightly different, going from the 'rhythm' sound of a classic Hendrix tune with the next preset being the 'lead' of the same tune, which shows IK's attention to detail in trying to capture the authentic sounds of Hendrix.
Some of the presets are noisy, but hey, when you crank the amps like Hendrix did, you're going to get that old school static / hum / buzz that happens when you're pushing your amps to the max. So in that aspect, you're getting a really well emulated program.
The graphics are cool - a torn tweed face on the cab, grimy looking stomp boxes, an aged & worn looking amp head. And if you're familiar with Amplitube 2, you'll be right at home since the layout is the same.
IK is now offering X-Gear, so if you've got other Amplitube products, you can plug any of the effects, cabs, heads, or digital racks thru the same plug-in. This is a really cool option, being able to mix & match all the stomps, amps & cabs with the different programs.
As with any computer based DAW plug-in, you can apply this program to any track. I'm running Pro Tools 7.4 native on a Mac G5. This program does eat up some CPU, so be forewarned. If you're a guitar afficionado, or looking for an expanded program for your studio, this is a great addition and just a lot of fun to play with.
Great!!

as a diehard tube amp and stomp pedals fan, i was reluctant to start using my DAW (Logic, Sonar, and DP) to generate my guitar tones. on a recommenation from a friends, i downloaded the demo and WOW! it sounds fantastic. great effects, lots of tonal options, and really sounds authentic. even for the patchs that don't quite so real, a little tweaking can give you a great sound. love the univibe and stomp pedals.
if your into vintage guitar sounds, you'll love this.
This ROCKS!

I can't say enough about this product. I'm using the demo version and it kicks! Really cool stuff in it. More presets than I thought...
I guess it's soon time to buy!
