I'm impressed...

Music Background: Pro This & That - Producer / Engineer / Performer / Pro Home Studio Owner
This is a great product, and I'm highly impressed with it overall. I'm a studio owner and just finished sampling the demo after a couple of days studio work, and although I'm not a full-time guitarist, I find the presets very usable and the tones are quite surprising. I've been using the Pro Tools version of Amplitube for three years now, and it's a joke compared to the full version. I don't give this product 5 stars because I'm not a full-blown guitarist who uses similar software apps, so this is a "stand alone" review.
The cab models are meaty, and there's a lot of "chunk" that you get on certain settings that are great for heavier tunes. The stomp boxes are pretty good, but not being an experienced die-hard guitarist, I can't really comment on their sound, but rather their function, which I find suitable for most applications. There's a good selection of stomp boxes - most of the basics you would need. Heck, most guys with recording systems now have their own plug-ins or outboard gear anyway, and guitarists who come in to record generally have their own setups playing through their own amps, so I'm only commenting on how useful this product is to me and my particular applications. I love it thus far...
There are a LOT of presets with this, and tons of combinations, tweakable to suit almost any discriminating guitarist. I like that you can split the signals and have two head / cab combos going at once. I've read some reviews where users thought this product was a bit "noisy", but I haven't found that to be the case. Maybe it was just a noisy guitar or a cheap cable they were playing through? I was able to dial in some very clean signals playing my American Fat Strat through it, switching from single coil to humbucker. With most guitar cabs & combos, you're going to get a very small amount of noise, so that's what a noise gate is for. Guitarists and recording hobbyists of the world, learn to use a noise gate!
The layout is easy to maneuver. If not for a lack of funds, I'd invest in IK's Stomp controller. I can see this software getting a LOT of use in my studio, as I work with guitarists ranging from death metal, to jazz, to gospel and beyond. Just with the demo version this past weekend, I scratch tracked a jazzy guitar part on a nice fat twin-reverb / small cab / a`la Larry Carlton type sound, and the guitarist was blow away with warmth & tone.
I don't have "hands-on" experience with the other guitar software apps out there, but I have viewed demos online and have found they are all somewhat similar. Based on what I've discovered so far with the 10-day demo, this software will serve the average studio very well, offering tweakability, ease of use, and great tones. I'm about to purchase it, along with the whole IK Multimedia studio bundle, so I'm looking forward to utilizing the other IK plug-ins, as well. I'm also considering footing the bill for the Jimi Hendrix / Metal combo to compliment my setup.
One word of warning - some of the presets are CPU hogs. The quality is great, and the reverbs are excellent, but they do eat your processing capabilities for lunch.

I recently purchased Amplitube and was blown away!! Great presets, great tone, and the combo of amps and cabs is unbelievable. Love it!!
