Not being a true-blue metal guitarist, I wanted a second opinion from someone who truly plays metal and metal exclusively. My thrashing friend was blown away, and I was tickled at the tonal varieties and presets, along with his response. He is a big 5150 fan, and the 150 presets totally knocked him out. He really liked the ambient / special effects type presets, and I am still amazed at the reverbs that Amplitube has with these products - full and rich are the first two words that come to mind. Also, the stereo separation on some of the presets are so dang good that it would take tons of tweaking otherwise to copy that same effect. I mean, these tones are fabulous right out of the box, with incredible reverbs, flanges, phasers, and I wouldn't have any problems recording any of these presets right to track with no tweaking. So, as a follow up, I've added the half star to boost to 5 stars, along with two enthusiastically "sore from picking" thumbs-up. I expect to get a LOT of mileage out of this program for a long time. August 28, 2008 Music Background: Pro This & That - Producer / Engineer / Performer / Pro Home Studio Owner I was surprised by some of the less "metal" presets in this package that sounded really good. If you're like me, when you think "metal", you think dark, heavy, piercing, yada yada yada... But some of the presets were very nice and surprisingly the types of sounds I'd use in a variety of settings. I really like the reverbs and delays with the Amplitube products. They are pretty sweet. I've been thinking of ways I can use those reverbs & presets in other ways on other tracks - they sound that good. Understandably, Amplitube programs do eat up a lot of CPU, but if your computer can handle it, all the better. One of the presets I found rather "dead-on" was the EVH preset. If you've got a good guitar with good pickups, the tones from this program should be all you need. It's gotten to the point of being ridiculous with how you can tweak these programs, so if you have a good ear, you have no excuse in not being able to find the sound you want. close [-]
