I can't believe how technology has changed. OK, so maybe I'm a 40 year old ex touring semi rock star who almost made it, but this little thing kicks my butt. No, I'm not using it on a tour bus. No, ... read more [+]I'm not using it backstage before the enormodome gig. But, it's awesome to be able to play a great sounding rig with headphones without waking up the wife and kids!! February 24, 2011 Music Background: Rock and Roll guitar player Impressive AmpKit LINK
by Rick Mendyka Sr from Gillette, Wyoming
I bought the AmpKit LINK and once you get past the crummy plastic shell it's made of, it's pretty impressive. The quarter-inch guitar jack clamps right on to your guitar cable nicely. Although I tri... read more [+]ed the Peavey recommended iPad app, I found that the comparably priced (free) app Fender Amplitube sounds better to me, but I like the Fender amp sound personally. Keep in mind you need to pay for other ams and effect pedals other than the free one that comes with the Peavey recommended App, as well as the free Fender App. AmpKit LINK does what it is supposed to do and is the ultimate in portability. If you want a lightweight way to practice by yourself or to interface with Garage Band on the iPad, this is an incredibly inexpensive way to do it! close [-]

by John from central florida uas
I bought this the other day so that I could carry one less bag to work - I practice at lunch. It does exactly what it is supposed to. Works well with amplitube, and ampkit, and probably others. It ... read more [+]basically turns your iphone or Ipod in my case into the best headphone amp you can buy. The construction quality seems fine on mine. I do get an occasional pop sound or crack sound when I move the ampkit but I leave it on the chair when practicing so its not often. As far as durability goes I am very careful when I plug in or disconnect. I would not want to drop it on a tile floor. That being said I would not want to drop any of my musical equipment on a tile floor. I love mine and will buy another if this one happens to break. Stellar service from Sweetwater once again! They are the most customer service oriented company I have bought anything from. close [-]
March 5, 2011 Music Background: hobby musician Nice audio interface for iphone
by Airplai from Kingston, Jamaica
I did alot of research on the iRig and the Ampkit Link and i found that the Ampkit would serve my needs best. The Ampkit Link is a power device so the drain on your iphone battery is minimal. To get h... read more [+]ours and hours of play i turn airplane mode on. if you turn the volume of the iphone all the way up you will hear very noticeable white noise. It works best it you turn the volume half to 3/4 and boost the volume in the Ampkit software instead. I play my bass guitar Fender Precision (EMG PX pickups) though the Ampkit and it sound quite nice. I wouldn't say it can replace a real Bass amp but it's a substitute for practice on the go. This is definitely what I will be using on tour to warmup before show and general practice in the hotel room. So I recommend checking out this product it very well designed. close [-]
