The perfect small studio control surface

The alphatrack has most of the functions that one mixing in the box would need. The transport control section is well designed with all of the typical buttons used to navigate through a project. The three rotary encoder knobs are very usefull and customizable for controlling pans, sends, and plug in parameters as well as a wide variety of user defina le operations. ( They even function as buttons) Finally the fader section is perfect for writing automation and its motorized action is touch sensitive just like a large format console. All of these features as well as several function keys help to make for an excellent controll surface.

For under $200, Alphatrack gives you great new-found control of your DAW software. With it's long throw motorized fader, you can really make smooth curves and fades. The feedback screen is excellent, giving you track selection, EQ info, and even plug in parameters. The fader response is even and smooth, not to mention 1000% better than the PreSonus version of this product, priced exactly the same. The touch sensitive jog strip seals the deal, making this an awesome transport unit, in addition to being an automation surface. My only complaint is the rotary encoders don't have the smooth action that v-pots do, and aren't as accurate as I had hoped. Overall, a great buy. A "duh" if you're using a mouse to automate those curves and pans.
