iZotope Alloy ReviewsSweetwater Advice
Emmett Andrews
If you've used iZotope Ozone 4, you know how great their processing sounds on a full mix. iZotope Alloy brings that sound and power to every track. With the tools and value Alloy brings to the table, it should be in use with every DAW on the planet!
Customer Reviewsfrom Denmark May 1, 2012 Music Background: Hobbyist Excellent ChannelstripAfter the purchase of Izotope Ozone I became an Izotope fan, and Alloy fullfilled my expectations. It is stable, the brilliant presets with one or two sliders makes it easy to get a good starting point to start with and then adjust the small details seperately. I've tried other channelstrips, but this one is definately my favourite.from East Coast May 21, 2010 Music Background: Christian Music recording Awesome set of pluginsI have used IZO's products for some years now, and like them very much. For those of you on a tight budget and looking for great plugins to make your sound shine... This should be your first investment. You can tailor the sound you recorded, drop any of these plugins on a track; or master bus; and you're sure to sound better than before. The precision with which you can work! Wow! And in case you're a newbie; the presents are great starting points. Don't let the price tag fool you. You can spend plenty more to get great sound, so don't let this one go.from Los Angeles, CA December 26, 2011 Music Background: Hobbyist Engineer, Film School Sound Designer, Gigging Musician A Mixing WorkhorseI use this plugin for almost everything, but especially drums. While there are definitely better-sounding alternatives for many of the individual processes (I prefer the sound of Massey "tape head" for saturation and "the glue" or "smack" for compression), the ability to run many of the processes in multiband, combined with the simplicity of running everything from one interface and the great spectral metering make this a big go-to for me.Need to add crack and punch to a snare? Eq can help, but try adding warm saturation and transient attack to the upper mids only and you'll begin to appreciate what this thing can really do. The presets are educational, but now that I have a good feeling for the plugin I don't use 'em anymore. I would often break the macros when I did anyway. Some things could be better. It is hard to adjust the signal mix the when using parallel compression. The saturation could crank harder. I'd like to be able to split processing for individual modules between mid and side, like can be done now in ozone. I would like more control over the compressor knee, with more visual feedback for this in the shape graph (more like the comp/limiter bundled with protools). Overall, though, I wouldn't want to be without Alloy. It is up to almost any task, and it is a must for drums! from Nashville, TN May 15, 2011 Music Background: Engineer, Pro live/session keyboards Powerful and VersatileExcellent sound, the presets are awesome, and it works well with a very wide variety of sounds/music. Don't be content with the presets though, spend some time with it and you'll find yourself able to dial in exactly the sound you want. One problem - it's a CPU hog on audio tracks (not so much with VI's). I'm running a late 2010 MB Pro with Core i7 proc, and my max track count with this thing (again, using audio, not VI's) is about 3. :( Too bad, because I'm finding myself wanting to use this on every track! |
