Make Sonic Gold with This Incredible Combo!

The Bogner Alchemist 212 40-watt, 2 x 12" tube guitar combo amp adds modern functionality to a vintage-style amp design. Two channels allow for an incredible range of tones and dynamics, giving you everything from sparkling clean to scorching via a very handy 4-button footswitch (which gives you control of boost, delay, reverb, and channel select functions). You get onboard reverb and delay, a selectable power switch that lets you go from 40 watts to 20, five 12AX7A preamp tubes, two 6L6 power tubes, and a pair of premium Celestion speakers with the Alchemist 212.

Bogner Alchemist 212 40-watt Tube Guitar Combo Amp at a Glance:
  • Sonic gold
  • The man behind the amps
  • Handcrafted quality

      Sonic gold
The Bogner Alchemist 212 puts its 6L6 tube power section to work for you, providing great American-style amp tones ranging from crystalline to white-hot sustaining. Each of this amp's two channels features Gain, Treble, Mid, Bass, and Volume controls, plus more. You can swtich the power section from a stageworthy 40 watts to a studio-friendly 20 watts. But it doesn't stop there - you get onboard reverbs and delays to add dimension and texture to the great sounds conjured by the Alchemist 212.

      The man behind the amps
Though Reinhold Bogner began designing and building amplifiers long before leaving Germany for the U.S. in 1989, his career really took off soon after arriving in Los Angeles. He quickly gained the trust of many influential players, including Steve Stevens, Dan Huff, Allan Holdsworth, Mike Landau and Steve Vai, who sought out his skill at modifying and custom building their amps. Eddie Van Halen entrusted Reinhold to overhaul and revitalize his number one Marshall Plexi, with great results. Soon after, Bogner Amplification was born, and the rest, they say, is history.

      Handcrafted quality
Bogner amps and cabinets are handcrafted, using only the finest components available. When you plug into a Bogner, you're not simply getting premium tone; you're getting the value of a piece of gear that's made to be played for years to come and built to handle the rigors of the road. From speakers to pre- and power amp designs, cabinets to cosmetic touches, Bogner amps and cabs are built to give you the best, most reliable playing experience, period.

Bogner Alchemist 212 40-watt Tube Guitar Amp Combo Features:
      • 2 x 12" open-back combo
      • 6L6 class-AB power section and five 12AX7 preamp tubes; selectable power section (40W or 20W)

Bogner Alchemist 2x12

I've been playing guitar since age 10, professionally off and on since 16...that's more years than I wish to comment on. I've owned every big name amp during that time, and want to say that this amp i... read more [+]s fantastic....It took me about 5 minutes to dial in a killer clean that is toothy and chimey with single coils, and a really amazing thick distortion that sounds like Steve Vai on the Alien Love Secrets cd... this is a serious piece of gear for serious tone merchants....if all you want to do is play one finger barre chords on the bottom 2 strings, it might not be for you... but if you're looking for killer cleans, great thick distortion, and YOUR tone... try this thing out!!!! close [-]

Sounds like old Van Halen in the lead mode!!!!

by Steve from Tennessee

You can tell that Reinhold Bogner was the technician that boosted Eddie Van Halen's Marshalls! I just bought the Alchemist and the sound speaks for itself. It's raw and toney and touch sensitive and ... read more [+]the basic sound is dead on old Van Halen in the lead mode! To top it off, the onboard reverb and delay is killer. It doesn't have a phaser or a chorus built in; however, with the tonality of the amp, there is no need for a wave device to give the amp life. I think the tonality is due to the circuitry and the materials the amp cabinet is made from (obviously top notch, even if it is Chinese made!)Also, the amp sounds just as good if not better with country music as a Fender and is versitile with all types of music. Some reviews have mentioned some of these amps are problematic right off the bat; however, mine works great and with a sound like old Eddie, what am I to complain about! I think I'm gonna keep this one!...KILLER AMP< good job! close [-]

It is a strange sight to see mass produced Bogner amplifiers, and if you know anything about the somewhat eccentric German born, California living Reinhold Bogner, his expensive boutique amplifiers a... read more

I enjoy playing different genres, and this amplifier allows me to play my favorite jazz, blues, rock, and metal tones without ever changing amps! The cleans are pristine, the crunch is powerful, and the lead tones send my humbucker-equipped guitars into a literal frenzy of powerful riffs! Buy this amp if you're looking for an amazing all-around amplifier!

Not horrible

I played this amp a good bit at my local shop, and I was left disappointed. The tone of the amp is not bad, and there are many useful features on board. The biggest problem I had with this amp is that... read more [+] it's so noisy. It's not too loud. It just has too much noise interference-white noise. My favorite band of all time, which is Coheed and Cambria, uses Bogner amps, so I was expecting a flawless performance. Turns out however, that the Bogner Uberschall that Coheed uses and the Alchemist are quite different amps. The Uberschall uses EL-34 tubes, and the Alchemist uses 6L6's, so the tone is different. In truth I'm not really being fair comparing the Alchemist to the Uberschall because the Uberschall is twice the price, but this is my experience with the amp. I'm not saying I don't like this amp. It may be built in China or wherever, but it still produces a good sound. I also like the aesthetics of the amp. If you play metal, then I'd say this is a great amp for you. If you want good clean tones, this may also be a good choice. I give the amp a 3 because it wasn't the amp for me. It could work for you though, so be sure to give it a try! close [-]

Our Customers Say...

My Sales Engineer is the best. If I need it tomorrow, I have it tomorrow. He makes sure everything is in order and that I'm set up right. I've spent a lot of money at other places, too, but I don't remember them calling me to make sure everything's okay.
