As a live musician that needs robust effects that are beyond the normal cheap stomp box effects I can't help but deem this one of the best effects boxes I have used. I found my happy place for a while and then moved on to the Black Box from M-Audio ( another Roger Linn product acutally) but went back when I discovered the support software available online from SoundTower Software. I can spend a half hour hammering the sound I want instead of the hour and a half; save off the patch and away I go. Hard ware with available software is double the value to me every time. close [-]

Live into an amp, the amp models are still pretty good, while the effects still sound ... read more [+]fantastic. The drum machine is great for practicing keeping in time (!), and when you add the sync-able effects to the drum beat, you can get some awesome loops happening that inspire songwriting! The ability to sync the effects and delays to the drum machine or MIDI mean that you can use the awesome and unique sounds available with your band. Easy to use, this is the sort of box that you play with for hours, and every time you play you’ll find new sounds, from which song ideas just seem to pop out of! close [-]

For the guitar player, this is it. It can make your guitar do things you never thought possible. Being able to flip through a bunch of different drum patterns really allows you to explore and come up ... read more [+]with some interesting riffs. The drum patterns themselves, are typically stiff midi patterns, so they aren't likely to be included in your final mix! You can turn them off, however. The ability of the effect to be locked to the sync of your DAW will save you a lot of tweaking time! The amp models are very good and the sound is excellent. Programming your own stuff is not terribly difficult, but you will need to refer to the manual -- it isn't *that* intuitive if you think you can just "wing it." The time you put into learning and using this box will be rewarded. close [-]
