A 32-bit RISC processor makes this possible, opening up a whole new world real-time performance options to the guitarist.AXON AX 100 MKII Guitar-to-MIDI Controller at a Glance:
500 internal sounds plus control of outboard modules Never again will you have to change guitars to produce a different sound - just switch the MIDI channel. On the AXON AX100 MKII, you can either choose from over 500 internal sounds, 10 drum kits and an SFX kit or trigger external sound devices such as samplers and synthesizers. Then, depending on the sound generator you are using, a guitar can become a synthesizer, an electric piano or a saxophone. Everything is possible - even at the same time. With the 12 play area zones, the AXON AX 100 MKII even makes your guitar multitimbral - you can play different instruments by splitting the fretboard, strings or pick position! Instantly converts picking to pitch, dynamics, and duration Housed in a 1U rackmount chassis, the ultra-fast AX 100 MKII guitar-to-MIDI controller sports an early recognition system that analyzes impulses as the string is struck, and converts data determining pitch, dynamics and duration without loss. A powerful 32-bit RISC processor does this in real time, thereby affording guitarists access to the possibilities of MIDI. New computer interface for programming ease Alongside substantial mechanical improvements, the new AXON 100 MK II offers a user-friendly computer interface. This fully-featured editor enables users to conveniently carry out all functions. It has never been so easy to grasp at a glance the complexity of AXON’s algorithms. The AXON soundboard is another compelling new feature. A custom development by TerraTec, it boasts more than 500 new sample layer sounds, including 10 powerful drum kits and an SFX kit. Of course, all sounds are both GM and XG-sound compatible. 128-voice polyphony for huge layered sounds Painstakingly sound-designed for professional use, the AXON 100 MKII offers 128 voices and thus plenty of polyphonic power for even very large program layers. What’s more, TerraTec Producer has added another goodie to the package - a promo DVD bursting with example sounds and a demo show featuring New York’s Burr Johnson. Integrated arpeggiator The integrated Arpeggiator endows the device’s sonic arsenal with another powerful sound-sculpting feature, and optional pedals and switches may be connected to add effects and extend the tonal palette even further. With all that, AXON AX 100 MK II brings unprecedented sound-shaping versatility to guitarists and bassists. Anything is possible - even the simultaneous playing of several instruments. AXON AX 100 MK II lets players turn the guitar into a multitimbral tool by splitting the fretboard, strings and attack position up into 12 zones to actually play different instruments at the same time. ReviewsThis is the Holy Grail
by Chris from WA
I've been tinkering with midi guitar for a few years now and have frankly been frustrated by every other converter out there which have only been good enough for programming midi tracks rather than li... read more [+]ve playing. The AXON 100 mk II has changed all that. This thing is the real deal. The latency is incredible low and the thing tracks amazingly. It is very very expressive and what you'd dream a midi guitar could do rather than what the previous reality has been. I especially like the capability of continuous controllers being controlled by your pick position over the pickups. This is simply amazing. Watch the youtube videos or go try one out. close [-]
February 29, 2008 Music Background: Recording Enthusiast As good as you are

I got one a year ago because I played keyboard out of necessity. With the, string/neck position/pick position splitting, what more can you ask. It's mostly limited by your imagination and ability. ... read more [+]I don't know about the early ones, but I know about this one. If you're tired of keyboard players or you want to do recording, the ax101 does the job. Just make sure you have a computer with a midi in/out interface to get all this baby offers. close [-]
January 9, 2008 Music Background: Musician, vocalist for decades. Simply Incredible

I am absolutely blown away by the Axon AX-100. My Sweetwater rep Craig Wilson suggested it over other synth options given its excellent tracking. He was right. It tracks beautifully pick or fingers.September 4, 2007 Music Background: Longtime Hobbyist I was concerned about the internal sounds not being up to par (based on other reviews). Most are very usable. In fact, so far, only the flute patch is unusable for me. The organs, pianos, strings, sax, trumpet, are all very good. I read every review I could get my hands on and read a lot of negative stuff about guitar synths. In one weekend I ran into almost every negative aspect, but with minor tinkering, overcame each and every problem. It took less than 20 minutes to install the GK pickup (Epi Les Paul). It took another 10 minutes to setup the Axon for the pickup. Piece of cake (Axon provides wide range of sensitivity and displays level bars). In 30 minutes I was playing pianos, organs, etc. Too cool. I have two Yamaha keyboards (piano, synth), and the Axon triggers them perfectly. No detectable latency whatsoever. If you have any concerns about latency, triggering speed, note recognition, there is nothing to worry about--the Axon performs very well. By the way, I don't play overly cleanly. Thanks to a table saw accident, I have a messed up second finger on the left hand. But it does not seem to matter, the Axon rarely triggers a false note even with my sloppy playing. However, you do have to realize that triggering a piano is different than playing guitar. For best results, modify your playing style to match the instrument you're triggering. close [-] Axon SB and Still Ticking

Nick SchenkelFor guitar playing synth enthusiasts, this unit is a must. The tracking is superb. The variety of splits available is mind boggling. The ability to send Continuous Controller messages based on where you are picking is extraordinarily expressive. If you want total control of your guitar synth rig, this is your solution.
