From Our Research Team:Excellent Orchestral and Concert Band Tuner!Korg's new AW-2 is a clip-on tuner designed to handle a variety of orchestral and concert band instruments. It comes with two clips - one large, one small - and features a double ball-joint, so you can easily clip and adjust it. The AW-2 features an internal backlight with two brightness modes, for discreet tuning in low-light stage environments. It also has two tuning modes - an internal mic, or a vibration-sensing Piezo sensor for tuning in noisy environments. The Korg AW-2's lithium battery supports 150 hours of tuning.Korg AW-2 Clip-on Instrument Tuner at a Glance:
Adjusts to fit onto a variety of instruments Korg's AW-2 tuner is designed to accommodate a variety of concert and orchestral instruments - no matter their "sweet spot" tuning location. That's because the AW-2 comes with two different clips. And, its double-ball joint lets you move the display section to a comfortable position, and the display itself even moves from side to side, so you can position it out of the audience's view onstage. Two tuning methods - internal microphone or vibration-sensing piezo sensor With the Korg AW-2, you can tune up two different ways. You can either use its internal microphone to hear the pitch, or you can use its vibration-sensing piezo sensor. The piezo feels the vibrations of your instrument and displays pitch accordingly - with it, you can easily tune within a noisy room. Internal 2-brightness backlight for onstage visibility To help you tune in varying light conditions, the Korg AW-2 features a backlight with two different brightness modes. You can choose soft mode for low-illumination - well suited for discreet stage environments. Or, you can choose a high-brightness auto mode. The energy-saving auto mode automatically switches to the low-power soft mode when no sound is present. Tuning range of A0 to C8 with markings for pure major/minor third intervals The Korg AW-2 features a tuning range of A0 to C8 and it features special markings to indicate pure major third and minor third intervals, for authentic consonance. Calibration accommodates a variety of concert pitches Thanks to the Korg AW-2's calibration function, you can accommodate a variety of concert pitches. Korg AW-2 Clip-on Instrument Tuner Features:
Tune up discreetly - even in noisy environments - with the Korg AW-2!

It works well. I usually use it on the piezo (contact) tuning mode, so it's picking up only my instrument. However, if I'm not playing it may pick up sympathetic vibrations of other instruments and ... read more [+]show those tunings as well. I clip it onto the bell of my trombone where I can easily glance at it (during longer notes) and check my tuning. It can be switched to an ambient ("Mic") mode, allowing tuning readings for instruments to which it is not attached -- or for clipping it onto my stand. close [-]

October 14, 2011 Music Background: Wedding Entertainer (Disc Jockey & Pro Musician) Not for Guitar
by Todd from Ohio USA
My mistake but I bought this over the guitar version (AW-2G) thinking I could use it for guitar also. However, the clip doesn't sit tight on the guitar neck. I wanted multi-instrument for guitar, horn... read more [+]s etc. Guess guitar doesn't fit in Korgs multi instrument definition. Contacted Korg and was told they don't sell the guitar clip separately. I can't figure out why the AW-2 is $10 more then the AW-2. The only difference is the beveled edge of the clip on the AW-2 vs. the flat edge of the clip on the AW-2G. Plus you get a tiny clip with the AW-2 to attach to a mic stand which is definitely not worth the $10 difference. So the only way to get all three clips is to order two tuners. Bad packaging in my opinion on Korgs part.September 14, 2010 Music Background: Musician Other than that, the little I've used the tuner it appears to work as advertised. Its readout is easy to see and tuning using either the piezzo or mic worked fine. close [-] Also popular
