The compact M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 powered reference speakers are great tools for traveling musicians who want to record on the road, or as top-flite monitors for desktop recording and multimedia systems with space concerns. These mighty mites deliver the same M-Audio quality as their big brothers. A 4" polypropylene-coated woofer and 3/4" ferrofluid-cooled silk dome tweeters combine to create punchy lows, crisp highs, and an overall even, transparent response.

The Studiophile AV 40 speakers are housed in dense wood cabinets, delivering far more bass response than you'd find in plastic-housed speakers. The AV 40 utilizes a 20W-per-channel internal power amp in each speaker and class A/B architecture for ample response and power, while Optimage III wave-guide technology optimizes the tweeters for superior aural imaging. You also get flexible input/output options, including a 1/4" TRS balanced and RCA unbalanced outputs, a 1/8" headphone output, a 1/8" stereo auxiliary input, volume control, and bass boost control.
