I bought this to hold an old Neumann SM69. Although the bands hold the mic very well, the thumbscrews on the side don't lock down as solidly as I'd like. I would prefer a notched angle instead of rubb... read more [+]er washers. That said, it's a heavy mic (with 2 capsules on the end), so consider that with my comments.February 13, 2013 Music Background: Engineer & Educator For a lighter mic this thing will be perfect. Just know that you'll have to spend a little time setting it up with a heavy mic. close [-] Shockmount is a winner

I was looking for a solution to a dynamic mic that I love and use live very often. Unfortunately the handling noise of the mic is excessive. Even putting it in front of an upright bass there would be ... read more [+]stomping and drum vibrations coming through the stand. This mount is low profile, sturdy, easy to use and the isolation is exceptional. I love the fact that when the provided bands wear out, they can even be replaced with same sized over the counter rubber bands. The only drawback might be the price. This is a rather expensive item for what it is but if I wasn't budget conscious, I would own several. close [-]

I chose this as a cheaper alternative to the awkwardly cagey and expensive ($100) shock mount made for ElectroVoice RE-20 style mics. The main frame is not much larger than the mic circumference, so ... read more [+]getting the mic in place - especially with the stiff rubber bands (which provide the anti-shock) is quite a challenge. It was a good 15 minute struggle. Perhaps, using just 1 band at each end would have been sufficient (and more effective) for an RE 27. I'm not sure how much anti-shock such a tight fit provides. A slightly looser fit might absorb more knocks and jolts - and do a better job of keeping those from disturbing a live mic. I plan to try that - one day! On the plus side, the compactness of this shock mount makes it possible to use my RE27 on a typical floor stand with a VoxGuard (sound absorption panel) mounted directly behind my mic - on the same stand - something that would have been wholly impossible with the EV shock mount. close [-]
