Stereo made simple

On location recording lions, tigers (seriously), and ................ on stage for drum overheads . I've had great results using either phantom power or batteries.

Stereo Workhorse

by Michael Hicks from Lafayette, IN

Music Background:
I am an audio recording tech at a major university and I also run a small project recording studio from my home. I tried the AT825 in the field as well as in the studio, and I have to say it shines in... read more [+] either application.

Not only is the AT825 a sturdy, well-built piece of equipment, but the sound is phenomenal. The separation is great, the color is warm and the capture is crystal clear. I used the mic in the field to record lectures as well as ambient sounds, and I used it in the studio to mic the drums (I'm a firm believer in the "less-is-more" school of drum miking - one kick drum mic (AKG D112), one snare drum mic (Shure SM57, who needs anything else?) and one stereo pair for the overheads.

The greatest thing about the AT825 for me is that it takes the guesswork out of placing a stereo pair over head. One boom mic stand with the clip that's included, and BADA-BING!, you're set up!
This mic is definitely a great value for the money. No audio tech worth his (or her) salt should be without one! close [-]

Our Customers Say...

Ninety-five percent of everything in this studio came from Sweetwater. My Sales Engineer is a lifesaver. I started working with him around 2005, talking to him about what my vision was for the studio. He was right there all the way.
