I've used this on Snare bottom, Hit-Hat, Snare top as well as cello and have always had great results. Thankfully they've added a pad to the newer versions because this mic is HOT!!!!

Great buy. Glad that I got these over the KM184s. Way better buy. AT makes some really good mics for the money. I prefer them over Berliners Cm33s and Rode NT5s. A tough call on these vs. Beye... read more [+]rdynamic MC930.

Sweetwater Advice

David Stewart
A terrific all-purpose small diaphragm condenser. The 4051 has a generally "bright" character to it, but it's not overdone (like some small diaphragm mics in this category). The overall sound is full bodied, which makes it suitable in a variety of applications: Works great on snare, drum overhead, hi-hat, room mic, acoustic guitar, and must be heard on trumpet!
