ART 705-AS - Active Subwoofer with Astounding Sound! We tested the RCF 705-AS RCF Active Bandpass subwoofer along with a set of ART 310-A and ART 322-A powered PA speakers at a live gig. It was the first time we actually had people from the audience come up to us afterward and compliment the sound quality of our PA system! In particular, people couldn't believe the compact size of the ART 705-AS for the amount of bass it kicked out without overpowering the entire system. RCF's R & D engineers have developed a totally new "High Current Capacity" Monolithic amplifier to power their totally new RCF 15" high power woofer. Pound for pound, there isn't an active PA subwoofer around that can pump out crisp, defined bass with the punch of the RCF ART 705-AS. RCF ART 705-AS at a Glance:
800-watt Active subwoofer The RCF ART 705-AS active subwoofer comprises a high-current 800-watt amplifier, a complete electronic processor section, and RCF's innovative low distortion, high power 15" woofer. The result is a compact, high powered system, unique in its class for output and low distortion. 15" High-power woofer with 3" Inside/Outside Voice Coil The RCF ART 705-AS features a new high-power 15" woofer. The product of the latest refinement in years of RCF experience in compact active subwoofer design and manufacture, the result is a highly responsive and controlled bass. The woofer features a 3" inside/outside voice coil to minimize power compression extending the life of the ART 705-AS. Why 3" voice coil: Power Compression is the neglected factor in many professional audio system designs. In woofers and subwoofers the power compression at maximum rated power can vary from 3-4dB for good designs and up to 6-7dB for poorly vented or small coil designs. This will affect not only the final achievable sound pressure level (SPL) but also the transducer Thiele-Small parameters, dramatically changing the high power curve response and sound characteristics. For this reason all RCF woofer and subwoofer designs are equipped with large sized, properly vented inside/outside voice coils. This guarantees the long term reliability and life of the speaker. Inside/Outside voice coil: RCF has developed a unique voice coil, combining the advantages of inside/outside technology to the superior quality of polyimide-imide materials (wire resins and "former" resins). The inside/outside coil offers many advantages: The dissipation surface is doubled - the adhesion area of the former is doubled - during thermal expansion the former is squeezed between inside and outside layers offering the best mechanical resistance. Our former is made from polyimide - imide fiberglass and the area between the coil and the cone is a triple layer of nomex - fiberglass - nomex for maximum stiffness and accurate sound transfer. 2-step Class H TAED amplifier The RCF ART 705-AS subwoofer uses a 2-step, class H high-efficiency True Active Extended Dynamic (TAED) amplifier in conjunction with a massive transformer and a bank of multiple capacitors. This is how they achieve perfect control of the woofer mass at very high output levels. Quite frankly, it cranks out the most power we've ever heard from an active subwoofer system. What is TAED?: The result of nearly ten years at the forefront of active speaker design and manufacture, RCF's True Active Extended Dynamic amplifier technology provides the perfect match of amplifier to transducer. The goal of TAED amplification is to increase the effective dynamic range of the loudspeaker system, which provides improved sonic accuracy, clarity, and increased depth and resolution. RCF is able to achieve this because quite simply, they design and manufacture ALL of the ingredients. RCF's new generation of active amplifier modules are designed with a new Double Wave Limiting System that along with providing improved transducer protection, guarantees the full use of the true dynamic range of the power amplifier. This in turn dramatically reduces distortion levels as well. The result is a powerful, reference-quality sound for your live gigs. Input Section and Controls The input section offers mono/stereo combo XLR/Jack input connectors and XLR high-pass output connectors. The ART 705-AS features a recessed master volume control, phase switch, and a selectable crossover frequency switch to guarantee outstanding versatility. The processor section includes active system equalization, limiter, and protection functions. The system is visually monitored from 4 status LEDs. Baltic Birch Enclosure The Baltic birch plywood enclosure is painted with black, heavy duty, textured epoxy. Birch, a particularly dense wood, not only offers great protection, but incredible resonance as well. The front of the RCF ART 705-AS is protected by a strong, powder-coated, metal grille. The cabinet features two M10 threaded points for optional speaker cart, a 35mm pole mount socket, and two ergonomically designed side handles for ease of transport. RCF ART 705-AS Features:
Treat yourself and your sound to the ground-shaking bass of the RCF ART 705-AS! RCF: The Transducer Innovators During the last ten years RCF has come into the forefront of active loudspeaker technology, placing RCF as the market leaders in True Active Loudspeaker Technology and transducer development. Their designs and manufacturing know-how is incorporated into active PA loudspeaker systems manufactured and distributed the world over. The Rules of Sound There are many different ingredients that go into creating quality products and systems. These include computer aided simulation software to assist the understanding of transducer behavior and amplifier operation, as well as the relationship between dynamics and transient response. To identify magnetic flux patterns, voice coil dynamics, suspension linearity, horn dispersion simulation, crossover filters, amplifier thermal behavior and etc RCF utilizes over thirty state of the art software packages. However, in the final analysis, it's RCF's vast practical experience the gives RCF loudspeaker systems their amazingly clear, and thrilling sound. 50 Years of Innovative Design With over 50 years of experience designing innovative speaker systems, RCF has developed proprietary transducer technologies, which allow them to achieve the optimum blend between state of the art components and innovative, purpose-designed electronics. The RCF loudspeaker line incorporates a vast range of transducers covering the entire audio spectrum. RCF designs transducers to achieve purity of sound, the absence of distortion, and the ability to withstand high power levels over a long period of time. RCF's advanced transducer technology includes the application of high-tech materials such as carbon fibre, damped titanium, plus Kevlar and Mylar hybrids. RCF has been instrumental in technological inventions such as: carbon fibre cone moulding, double silicon spiders, inside/outside voice-coil winding and compression driver topology, edge-wound voice coil manufacturing, and pure titanium diaphragm forming. RCF's latest developments have resulted in utilizing state-of-the-art Neodymium magnetic materials and Direct Drive Voice Coil Assembly. See Also: PA Subs |
