November 3, 2011 Music Background: Astounding digital piano
by John Lavazzo from Upstate, NY
I'm a semi pro musician who plays a variety of instruments and gigs weekly. I have pretty expensive taste when it comes to equipment probably because I am very tone and quality conscious. When it was ... read more [+]time to buy the family a digital piano I did a great deal of research and could not ignore all of the rave reviews about the new Casio Celviano pianos and how Casio seems to be overtaking some very strong competitive brands in this space. Well let me tell you that I am completely blown away with the quality of this piano, both build quality and tonal qualities. February 5, 2011 Music Background: Semi-professional musician Firstly, the packaging is outstanding. At over 200 pounds, the piano arrived via FedEx freight in pristine condition, and you can tell that Casio has given great care in their packaging. Not a single problem and assembly was exceedingly easy. Even before turning the piano on for the first time I was in disbelief at the weight, action and overall feel of the keyboard. A blind test would make it impossible to discern this from a real acoustic piano. Upon powering the unit up and turning up the volume, my jaw hit the floor after hearing how authentic the sound was and how accurate the touch sensitivity was. On full volume this piano has that slight resonant vibration you can feel from an acoustic piano, and the excellent power amp and speakers are up to the task without a hint of distortion. More impressively, Casio has actually managed to recreate the sound of hammers hitting the strings. Unbelievable. And that was just using the default grand piano preset. Further exploration revealed a sea of useful and musical features, functionality and tones. Setting all of the other goodies aside, this piano would be more than worth the price even if only for the one piano sound alone. I have never been more impressed with an instrument, not just "for the price" but at any price. I do not have any experience with competitive models, but if you are intrigued by all the hype these Casio pianos have been getting, then have no doubt: they live up to that high expectation in every way. If Casio wasn't recognized as a premium manufacturer of digital pianos in the past, they sure should be now. This is a piece that I am truly proud to own. And lastly, you can feel confident in making this investment with a company like Sweetwater! close [-] Also popular
