The Sound of the British Invasion Is Yours Today!

The new Vox AC30 Custom Classic is the culmination of over 45 years of high quality guitar amplifier design and fabrication. Vox has taken the best AC30 designs and added a number of useful, very cool features to create the AC30CC2, the most tonally flexible and affordable AC30 to date! This Vox is equipped with a pair of custom-designed GSH12-30 speakers.

Vox AC30CC2 Custom Classic Amp at a Glance:
  • A historic guitar amp brought into the 21st century
  • Flexible amp with spring reverb, blendable channels and more
  • A ton of control possibilities
  • Authentic tone from two Vox GSH12-30 speakers
  • A total Vox experience!

History in the making
Why has the AC30 been an icon for decades? It's the amplifier's unique, warm tone, its player friendly "feel" and its primeval circuit design. With its straightforward "what you see is what you get" control format, the AC30 was a hit with artists from the very beginning. Back then, Vox owned the '60s "British Invasion" and to this day the AC30 is widely used by all kinds of guitarists performing in a huge range of musical styles.

Two blendable channels, a first
Not only does the AC30CC2 Custom Classic include two channels, it also offers the ability to blend those channels together (a first for the AC30!). The Top Boost Channel serves up that classic AC30 tone, while the new expanded Normal Channel now offers two modes, Normal and Bright, which allow you to achieve the sounds of an assortment of vintage AC30s. Use the channels individually or blend them together for increased tonal flexibility to create a unique sound and feel that's all your own. Plus, the AC30CC2 Custom Classic features a true bypass FX loop, spring reverb and master volume. It's an evolution of the original that is sure to become a classic in its own right.

Control freaks, rejoice!
The AC30CC2 Custom Classic is fully equipped with well thought out and easy to use controls. With a Custom/Normal EQ switch, Tone control and Dwell switch for the spring reverb, Master Volume, fully variable Tremolo on all channels and a true bypass Effects Loop, Vox has thought of everything! They've even included a switchable cathode resistor that lowers power output and increases tube life. Of course, the AC30CC2 Custom Classic comes with Vox standard controls like Treble, Bass, Tone, Volume, Standby and more.

Authentic tone from two Vox GSH12-30 speakers
This amp delivers truly classic tone thanks to its two custom-designed Vox GSH12-30 speakers. These are AC30 standards that carry the Vox tradition forward from the British Invasion to now.

A total Vox experience!
In order to achieve tonal nirvana, the AC30CC2 is manufactured in Vox's vertically integrated manufacturing facility. What this means for you is that Vox has total control of the design, the quality and the sound of your amplifier. Their factory is capable of many processes not found in most guitar amplifier factories. VOX designs and manufactures their own transformers, speakers (except for the venerable Vox "Blue" and "NeoDog" which are manufactured by Celestion), cabinets and they build their own electronics. All components have been designed, manufactured or selected so that the performance and sound of your AC30CC2 Custom Classic is second to none.

Vox AC30CC2 Custom Classic Amp Features:
  • Classic tone from two custom-designed Vox GSH12-30 speakers
  • Two inputs - Top Boost and Normal
  • Input Link Switch for blending channels
  • Front Panel Controls: Volume, Brilliance Switch, Top Boost Volume, Treble, EQ Standard/Custom Switch, Bass
  • Reverb Controls: Tone, Mix, Dwell Switch

This redesigned AC30 is the most versatile amp I have ever played. It nails classic Brit pop, blues, country, alternative. The Class A sound sits big and fat in a mix at any volume level.

Great versatile tone

This amp is truly amazing. I know a lot of people think of this amp as a "one trick pony" but I have been able to get very versatile sounds of this amp. When you drive it hard, the natural overdrive o... read more [+]f the amp is smooth and full. When you're using it for cleans though, it takes overdrive pedals VERY well and there's nothing like a tubescreamer in front of this amp. On that note, it takes all pedals really well. The only con I can find is the weight. This thing is a monster at 75lbs. When it's in my studio that's not a problem, but lugging it to gigs gets tiresome. Overall though...this is a GREAT amp and my favorite by far. close [-]

Great Amp

by Loren from GA

This amp is awesome. It has a great voxy class A sound high in the mids and great for cutting through. But at the same time, it has tons of features that help you adapt to different situations and f... read more [+]ine tune your sound. What I like about it best is the way it handles different guitars. The single coils on my tele sizzle and sparkle with clarity and cut just like single coils should. The humbuckers on my les paul push the front end and when the power section is cranked and the channels are blended, produce a wonderful crunch that seems like a blend of old-school Marshall aggression blended with the subtleties and elegance of the AC30. A great combination and an extra gear that older AC30's lack without stompboxes. Of course, I still use my OD pedals live and the amp absolutely loves them. A little noise with my tele's single coils, but that's to be expected. Oh, and did I mention that it's loud enough to sit right beside my friend's JCM800? No more worrying that I'll be lost in the mix. This is a great amp that can adapt to basically any musical situation with reliable and consistently great tone. Plus, it looks awesome! close [-]

Great sound - fairly reliable... still a great deal even with the issues

My AC30CC2 is an excellent sounding amp. Tone seeps from it. In fact it's the best sounding AC30 I've used. (I always get an AC30 for backline). The trouble is... Mine has been realiable until the G h... read more [+]armonic started every time I played a G note or chord (which was caused by a bad 12AX7). I used it on two more gigs and viola... it's got a dead short somewhere. Can you say BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!
full on from the master pot. But it's another tube I'm sure... I guess if you re-tube them every 6 months then it would be fine.
I have to say I do work this amp to it's fullest potential. It's been on tour for about a year now, and it just broke down. close [-]

A Vox Fans Dream Amp!

by Mike Isenberg from Hollywood, California
April 1, 2005
Music Background:
Having been a professional musician since the mid-sixties and having played through the originals, the new Vox AC30CC2 is a Vox fans dream amp! As opposed to the old ones, this one doesn't break ... read more [+]down continually and isn't noisy or touchy. Personally I like the way this one is set up more than an original, there are far more options, very usable and desirable options, like the power option for use in smaller venues ( great idea ) and the channel blending switch ( ditto ). The Reverb and Tremelo sound warm and don't sound cheesy like some other amps. The natural distortion is fantastic, but I really like the pure Top Boost sound with my Rick 325c58. If you are into a completely authentic Beatle sound, this is IT. I could not discern any sound difference between this and the hand wired point to point AC30 for four grand. I'de bet even money that the Beatles themselves would've liked this amp better than the originals they used. I know some people will snicker at that and if they want to spend six grand on a forty plus year old amp that didn't work all the time when it was new, let 'em. All snob appeal aside, this is simply a better amp. Vox hit one out of the park, the AC30CC2 is simply THE best AC30 ever! My highest recommendation. close [-]
