I put groove tubes EL84 in the power section and Mesa boogie 12ax7's in the audio......sounds fantastic. An added plus .....the amp is self biasing! close [-]

That's probably because I can't get the AC30 into its sweet spot in my house because its too loud. They used to offer these with the Blues but now they only offer the handwired 15s with the Blues. I can tell you right now, it's the speaker that makes the difference. Worth the upgrade, especially considering you end up with a spare Greenback to use with something not VOX AC. Use the Greenback for a 5 watt Marshall or something that doesn't have the tasty upper-mid shimmer this AC15 does. This is a major bargain. Oh, and with the Blue, this is the loudest 15 watts you'll ever hear. close [-]

I am completely in love with this combo amp. I play with a american standard tele and it just works wonderfully with this amp. And it just sounds so darn vintage!

My motivation for buying this amp was a change of pace from the amp I had been using for the last ten years. My biggest concern was how well a 15 watt amp would perform along side a drum kit. My conce... read more [+]rns turned out to be unfounded as the amp produced plenty of volume. It is a beautifully voiced amp. It tends to be darker than my Fender which makes it a great pairing with my Telecaster. The clean is amazing and the drive is what you would expect when you actually get your tubes running hot which is hard to do with a higher wattage amp without killing the neighbors with the volume. I could go on ranting about this amp for an hour but the bottom line is it's one of the nicest sounding amps I've owned and my personal favorite at this point. close [-]
