No Chalk Needed! The new 8-Ball mic from BLUE gives new meaning to "playing in the pocket"! While it may bear a striking resemblance to the Ball microphone from BLUE, the similarities stop there. The 8-Ball is a cardioid condenser microphone designed with the needs of the professional recording artist in mind, but priced within reach of the beginning home user or hobbyist. Featuring BLUE's highly regarded Class A discrete low noise amplifier circuit, the 8-Ball's smooth frequency response is sure to please desktop musicians. Perfect for applications as varied as drum overheads to acoustic and electric guitars or vocals, the 8-Ball willquickly become a go to mic for many. A standard thread swivel mount at the base of the microphone allows the user to pivot the 8-Ball back and forth, making mic placement a snap. And, because the 8-Ball requires phantom power, a front-mounted LED confirms that the mic is ready to use.

I bought this as a beginner mic and was very pleased. Works great for vocals or acoustic instruments. It might not be the best, but it's very affordable and has more than decent quality.

With all the good mics in this price range, Blue should be ashamed. The construction is cheap plastic, feels like it's about to fall apart. The sound is OK; but there's so much noise (including radio ... read more [+]signals that it picks up) that you can't really use it for anything. This mic represents what's wrong with music equipment companies today: Good companies sell their designs for manufacture in China, losing all the qualities that made them good. close [-]
