I've had a set of 8030A monitors in my studio as reference for several years now. They are surprisingly full sounding for their small size. The low end is well defined and I have been able to make good judgments about kick drum and bass guitar on them. Don't let the small size fool you!

I recommend 8030As to someone who is looking for a good monitor that will be accurate enough to finish a mix with, but also sweet enough to let talent listen to a mix right after a session. A wonderful set of monitors that are attractive to the eye and the ear.

Preachfrom Cheverly,MD July 6, 2011Music Background: Pro musician, songwriter, recording engineer Finally..............Some Clarity!After repeatingly listening, and reading up on these impressive set of monitors, I finally got up the gumption and picked up a set. They are by far the best pair of monitors I've ever owned ( and believe me, I've owned everything from the rooty to the tooty when it comes to monitors)!I'm not saying that these are the end all to be all because there are plenty of great sounding monitors out there, but for me and the style of music I create (Jazz, Funk, R&B, these things are incredible! I can now record and mix and not be so concerned of how the mix translates to other systems like cars stereos and computer systems (which are real world listening devices..not studio monitors!) and know that i'm gonaa hear everything that was recorded in the studio the way it was intended to be heard. Oh yeah....and the mastering engineers love the way the final mixes sound too! If you're serious about your mixes my suggestion is to save up and snatch up a pair of any oh the series of Genelec monitors and see for yourself!

These are used in world class studios by the best audio engineersso who ever is saying there's something alot better than this I dont think so. Very happy with these.

You can really grasp the sterofield with these monitors. If you are looking to make a great mix, buy these. If you are producing music, and are looking for loud monitors,(Like electronic music or hip hop), don't buy these monitors. They are made for mixing. That's my 2 cents Cheers, JC

March 21, 2007Music Background: Musician, Recording Engineer, Studio Owner Great, Honest nearfield monitorsI bought these when talking to a Sweetwater Rep who told me that he personally used these at home. When I rx'd and hooked them up in my studio, I was very impressed with the clarity. The imaging is spot on and they do tell the truth. I feel these are perfect for the home studio and definitly will improve my mixes as well. Save your money and buy a pair of these. You won't be disappointed!

Haven't quit my day job yet ;) Excellent and perfect if you do any 5.1 work.They don't get a 5 because there are better monitors out there in the $2,000 range (ADAM for example). But for $600 these are excellent. Very neutral, but not dead like the Mackie units (which sound horrible IMHO), clear and responsive and nothing is missed.If you're looking for low end frequency, you'll need to find a sub or go the Genelec larger units. They rate as low as 56hz but I opt'd for the 85Hz roll off as I have a sub. 
Mikefrom Minn, MN September 30, 2009Music Background: Part time musician It must just play harmonics for low frequenciesLove the highs on these, but the mids get muddled by the low frequencies. You really need to cross these over at 80Hz or so to get the best out of them. If you're seeking a monitor to use without a pair of subs, this aren't it.
