  8020A Genelec!
by from colombia, May 2008

Portable, powerfull, amazing. Precise and clear sound. Very good prize...

  Totally amazing!
by Pulling Mussels from Brooklyn, NY, March 2008

I really doubted that a speaker this size could handle the bass frequencies, but boy do they!

When I first heard them demoed, I thought there was also a sub helping out. It revealed a lot of the mistakes inherent in previous mixes I've done. The bass rolloff helps to compensate for being near walls, which is a plus.

The clarity in the mids and highs is superb.

Just turn the volume up periodically to check the bass and you should have a great mix with these.

There's a reason why these are the reference. You'll know why as soon as you hear them. Nothing this small comes close. Buy these speakers!

  Unmistakable Genelec
by Zhou Tian from Los Angeles, New York, November 2007
Music Background:  Pro Composer, Classical and Commercial

I've always loved the Genelec sound, from 1030A, 1029A to 8050A. Just bought these for my small mixing room, and driving it with Saffire LE (few 2-ch interfaces have Balanced output). Best imaging and best mid under $1000. There's a reason why nearly every pro production uses Genelecs at some point, and they proved this again with 8020a. These will be used as 2.1 system for the living room when I get the money to upgrade to 8040A. BTW, my girl friend who just came back from Finland said that in Finland they use Genelec for stereo systems, just to listen to CDs. Incredible.

  Best of the Best

Running from an M-Audio soundcard (Delta 66), these Genelec 8020A's sound simply fantastic. You simply have to hear them to believe it. Hard to understand how this huge and full-balanced sound could be coming from these little guys, and they are built like the proberbial tank too. Truly awesome nearfield monitors, outstanding functionality (right down to their Iso-Pod bases), and they are most definitely worth the extra investment. Made in Finland, I wonder if these could possibly be the best sounding and highest-quality monitors of this type/size available in the world today.

  Looks are deceiving
by Mike McHenry from Lancaster, PA, February 2007
Music Background:  Mixing / Post Production Engineer.

I bought these a few days ago. I have a 14x14x9 room, and I wasn't sure if I should go with these. I got a good deal on a pair, and was blown away. I usually monitor things at lower levels anyway, so the 20w per driver wasn't a big deal, and when I got them into my treated room, I was astonished at how loud they DID get, and how much low end they were able to provide.

I recommend these to anyone who's looking into getting a good pair for around $800. Genelec definitely makes a statement, and the clarity that these nearfields provide is well worth the price.

Get a pair.

  Great Little Monitors!
by Jason from Toronto, Canada, October 2006
Music Background:  Recording Engineer, Hobbyist.

I was researching alot before i settled on these. They just had everything i wanted in the price range, size, looks, and of course sound. I write music as a hobby and do sound effects and dialog editing for Film, Trailers, and TV as a profession.

These sound really clear and have amazing bass response for how small they are. I would say that i am very happy, although i would point out a few things. They are for near field monitoring and for that, they are great, but if you want super loud i would go with the 8030 or 8040, the thing is is those are much more expensive, i think these with a SUB kick serious ***, cause then you can just switch these to the high freq. and let the sub do the low end work.
Also Recommend the Dynaudio BM5s.........i just didnt like the way they looked and how deep dimension wise cause i have a small space, but they sound excellent for the price.
