My friends won these mics in a contest at a drum competition and he let me use them to record for one of my band's albums. I got these years ago and I still use them. Mainly use them for just toms now (Qsnare on highest tom, kick mic on lowest tom). They do not sound bad at all. I'd still choose other mics for kick (Audix D6, Beta 52a, etc) but if needed these are good for beginners. It's all about personal taste and I don't mind putting it a little extra work mixing for these. I don't expect any microphone to sound 100% perfect on it's own so why should anyone with these? Even the greatest mics on the greatest voices get EQ'd and compressed some. close [-]

I bought this mic pack and one of the Tom mics was DOA. They sent me a replacement quickly. I think these mics are fine maybe for live applications in a smaller venue, but overall, the sound just is... read more [+]n't that great. I definetly would save money and get a better kit for recording. The bass drum mic doesn't give you any kick and sounds very dull. The other mics have too much bleedover. I've tried different mic placements and still can't get too great of a sound out of them. If you're on a budget and absolutely need some low-end mics, go ahead and get these. But, if you can save some money and get something better, you'll be much happier. close [-]
