In the 500 Series, elegance meets clean, dynamic response. Rosewood borders the solid Tropical American mahogany body, Hawaiian koa is hand-inlaid into the rosette. Engelmann or Sitka spruce tops produce a warm, mature tone. Taylor substitutes a Western Red cedar top on the 514ce to make it an even more responsive fingerstyle powerhouse.

Less dense than a spruce top, cedar's warmer, more "blossoming" sound resonates with smooth overtones. Coupled with mahogany, it responds well to the subtle nuances of the player.

Taylor's Grand Auditorium combines the width and depth of a Dreadnought with a narrower waist. Its sleek design yields a strong treble zing across the tonal spectrum and sharpens the definition of individual notes. The Grand Auditorium is a strong fingerpicking guitar that also adapts well to medium strumming.

Taylor 514ce Finish: Gloss
The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultra violet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.
