From Our Research Team:Discover the Difference a Taylor Can Make!In the 500 Series, elegance meets clean, dynamic response. Rosewood borders the solid Tropical American mahogany body, Hawaiian koa is hand-inlaid into the rosette. Engelmann or Sitka spruce tops produce a warm, mature tone. Taylor substitutes a Western Red cedar top on the 514ce to make it an even more responsive fingerstyle powerhouse.Taylor 514ce A Western Red cedar top brings extra warmth and responsiveness to our popular mahogany Grand Auditorium cutaway, a perennial favorite among fingerstylists and singer-songwriters alike. Taylor 514ce Wood Less dense than a spruce top, cedar's warmer, more "blossoming" sound resonates with smooth overtones. Coupled with mahogany, it responds well to the subtle nuances of the player. Taylor 514ce Body Type: Grand Auditorium Taylor's Grand Auditorium combines the width and depth of a Dreadnought with a narrower waist. Its sleek design yields a strong treble zing across the tonal spectrum and sharpens the definition of individual notes. The Grand Auditorium is a strong fingerpicking guitar that also adapts well to medium strumming. Taylor Expression System™ Designed to faithfully reproduce your guitar's native tone, the Expression System™ utilizes patented Dynamic Sensors™ to capture top and string vibration like never before. Created in partnership with renowned audio pioneer, Mr. Rupert Neve, the Taylor ES is seamlessly integrated into the design of the guitar from the ground up. Onboard tone controls provide added flavor, or set flat for an uncolored, exceptionally clean amplified sound. Taylor 514ce Finish: Gloss The finish used to create this guitar's lustrous gloss top, back, and sides was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultra violet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes. Taylor 514ceFeatures:

ReviewsOne of the best models I've owned!
by Scott from Phoenix, AZ
I've owned a 514ce, 614ce, 714ce, and 814ce. While every guitar Taylor makes is world class, and outstanding, I must say the 514ce is one of my favorites of them all. It has an incredible warm tone to... read more [+] it, and it's just a beauty to play. The mahogany back is very nice to look at, and every one that plays this guitar of mine, talks about how much they like it. While the 714ce is my favorite in the whole line, due to the dark wood and gorgeous look, the 514ce is definitely as beautiful to play. close [-]
August 10, 2011 Music Background: Full Time Musician - Over 8 Years! Sweetwater Advice
Ryan MurphyI've been selling Taylor Guitars for over ten years and I always recommend the Taylor 514ce to guitarists who are heavy into fingerstyle and singer-songwriter material. The combination of the mahogany body and the cedar top produce a nice tone especially suitable for this style of playing. It's great for both live performance and recording studio applications.
