Heaven sent

I difference in tone is amazing with this thing. I have on plugged into my Mesa Dual Rectifier and the difference with and without is day and night. Without the sound is tinny and weak with little bass. With it's like getting drop kicked at bedroom volumes.

Amazing!!!

In my opinion, every studio should have it! This thing gives life and clarity to your tracks, if you have a good ear you can use it in any recording situation. Especially on Bass, Guitars, Piano, Drums, acoustic intruments and vocals. Amazing for the price! I don't have a $1000 dollars preamps. And the BBE 482i with my $600 Preamp gave me a sound compared to these expensive preamps.

BBE 482i

The BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer offers two channels of BBE’s patented sound enhancement technology. It will brighten, clarify, and add depth and punch to your sound.

It works by preventing the frequency robbing phase cancellation effect typical in traditional sound reinforcement technology by adding a delay of 2.5 milliseconds to the bass frequencies, 0.5 ms to the midrange, and also passing the high frequencies through a Voltage Control Amplifier (VCA), providing continuous dynamic amplitude corrections, ensuring proper high frequency content in the final audio signal and ensuring that the frequency content of the sound coming off your speakers hits your ear at the proper time, eliminating “muddiness” and “smearing”.

The unit features a process control, offering up to 10db of phase compensated high frequency boost and a low contour knob offering up to 10db of phase compensated boost at the 50 hz frequency range. There is also an on/off switch, a bypass switch for comparing your effected sound to the bypassed sound, and an LED/clipping indicator.

I use the 482 in the effects loop of my Vox AD-120 VTX. It works great to give solid state and digital modeling amplifiers a dynamic range on par with that of all-tube amps. With my VTX switched to the Modern High Gain, Recto, or US High Gain amp models, the BBE creates a huge, tight modern Metal sound. When used with the Plexi and Vox models, the BBE creates a bright, punchy classic crunch sound. When used with the Blackface 2X12 model, it creates a sparkly, present sound with a full and satisfying low end.

Any of the available BBE Sonic Maximizer models are a highly recommended and cost effective method to improve your sound.

These things have been around for so long for a good reason. Put simply, they make good sound better. This won't clean your mix or fix your room EQ, and it can EASILY be overused, but it WILL enhance the thump and crisp that can be so easily lost in a live mix. This doesn't just throw some EQ in, it uses guru-math to manipulate the stereo and sonic fields to control the way sound approaches the ear from the speakers, and it's cool.

It makes"GOOD" even"BETTER"

I don't want anyone to buy this unit believing that it's processing power will compensate for a poor mix(because it will not!). What I can say is that it make's your good mix better.It seems to make your mixes come alive. I would have to agree with a comparison my partner made, that it sound like someone removed a blanket from your monitors.
