Fantastic Violin Mic

Having used a violin pickup for years (and was never really satisfied), I could hardly believe the sound quality that this mic produced. I was able to walk around the auditorium with more than enough gain and no feedback concerns. It is not cheap but well worth the investment. I would recommend this for all musical styles from classical to rock.

It clips on the instrument easily. A different adapter is required to attache to a wireless system. The wireless system will also require phantom power capibility.

The good stuff

So great! The sound quality is fantastic, and you can even use it on a loud stage without issue. The Shockmount and mounting clip work so well I can quietly change it from one instrument to the next without having to ask the sound guy to turn me down. The mounting clip also fits on my mandolin and banjo. If you are an acoustic tone freak get rid of all the pickups and preamps you have tried over the years, the 4099 is the answer. It's all you will ever need!

DPA 4099-V for Mandolin

Sounds great in a recording environment, soon to be applied to a live one. High quality worksmanship refected in the price but Sweetwater gave where they could.

It seems difficult to move it from mandolin to guitar as the clip musst be changed.
