To give the PRS 408 Maple Top a rich yet balanced sound, PRS began by choosing the tried-and-true combination of mahogany topped with a select quilt maple top. The 408 Maple Top's mahogany body gives you natural, tonal warmth, which is offset perfectly by the brighter tone of its maple top. Together, these tonewoods give you an incredibly balanced sound.

Custom-wound 408 pickups and switching provide endless tone
When PRS released their Signature Limited model, everyone who got a chance to check out the new 408 pickups was absolutely blown away. But true to his perfectionist nature, Paul Reed Smith continued to tweak these 100% proprietary pickups to perfection. In fact, he discovered that by tightening up the pickup field on a 408 Bass pickup, he was actually able to create an even better sounding treble pickup. The PRS 408 Maple Top electric guitar features a pair of these amazing 408 pickups.
