Vintage Compression Meets Modern Flexibility
The McDSP 4030 Retro Compressor plug-in combines the vintage sound of a hardware compressor with the modern sound provided by built-in parallel compression capability. A wet/dry mix control lets you balance your compressed signal with the original, perfect for managing the dynamic range while retaining the impact of the transients. Version 7 introduces several optimizations to this powerful plug-in, with full support for Apple Silicon and the latest Intel processors, a high-definition user interface, over 1,500 studio-quality presets, zero-latency algorithms for seamless operation, and much more. Dry/wet mix control
Parallel compression has long been a secret trick of pro engineers to get a heavily compressed sound that retains a dynamic feel, and the McDSP 4030 Retro Compressor makes it easy. A dry/wet mix control lets you blend your compressed and dry signals together for the perfect amount of compression. Try dialing in some extreme settings on a drum kit, then blend in the compressed signal just a bit with the dry signal. You'll get the snap and punch of the dry drums, enhanced by the pulverized, smashed sound that's just barely audible underneath. It's great for rock drums, but useful in a ton of other applications, too.
Analog saturation modeling
McDSP's 4030 Retro Compressor plug-in features the same analog saturation modeling that made McDSP famous with engineers worldwide. No matter how extreme your settings are the 4030 Retro Compressor won't sound harsh and digital — just smooth and analog.
Anti-clip output stage
McDSP's anti-clip output stage topology means digital clipping simply won't pass the output stage of the 4030 Retro Compressor. Even with heavy compression, the 4030 Retro Compressor maintains its analog vibe.
