From Our Research Team:

This Double-cutaway Acoustic-electric Plays and Sounds Incredible!

The 3135 with 3-Pickup System Pathmaker acoustic guitar features a patented double cutaway headblock design that allows access to 19 frets clear of the body, with a very stable neck joint. These guitars are handmade; the braces are hand-scalloped with a violin maker's plane. The finish on the 3135 with 3-Pickup System is extremely thin, so the acoustic tone is loud and clear. The necks are very slim and the access to the frets all the way into the high registers make this a real user-friendly guitar - and the onboard electronics let you plug in the 3135 with 3-Pickup System and sound great, too!

Wechter 3135 with 3-Pickup System Acoustic-electric Guitar at a Glance:
  • Designed and crafted for tone
  • A great-playing guitar
  • Great Wechter pickup system
  • Precise Plek Pro setup
  • Wechter Guitars - a fine tradition

Designed and crafted for tone
The Wechter 3135 with 3-Pickup System comprises a wealth of fine components you may not expect at such a modest price. The 3135 with 3-Pickup System features lacewood back and side material that's complemented by a gloss-finished solid spruce top for rich tone. Plus, a rosewood fingerboard and bridge and a nato neck add to the Wecther 3135 with 3-Pickup System's sound and playability.

Great pickup system
Included with this model is an advanced pickup system that blends the signals from a condenser microphone, a soundhole magnetic pickup, and an under-saddle piezo pickup, so you can go from a Nashville country "twang" to a very mellow smooth jazz sound. It features a 3-band equalizer - Bass, Middle, Treble - with a Magnetic / Piezo pickup blender, Microphone controllers (Sharpness and Level), a low battery indicating LED, a Phantom power LED, a phase reversing switch for feedback control, and a Master volume. It is powered by either a 9V battery or by 48V phantom power.

Precise Plek Pro setup
Plek Pro is a revolutionary guitar technology achievement, effectively delivering the most optimal string action physically possible. The Plek Pro system mechanically dresses each guitar under true playing conditions, identifying what, precisely, the guitar needs to achieve perfect fretwork. What you get in the end is an instrument that intonates better, is perfectly buzz-free and has a personalized setup that's even more accurate than what the finest luthier could ever offer.

Simply The Best For Stage

First of all, the Pathmaker is not for you if you want a great sounding guitar to pick around the kitchen table. These baby's are made for the stage and meant to be played amplified! If you play acous... read more [+]tic with a loud rock group, you use the soundhole pup. But if you want a big acoustic sound, you set the piezos and blend in the adjustable microphone inside the body. That is when these baby's come to life!! I put mine up against 2 $1500 Martins and there was no comparison. Not even close! A big plus is the electric type neck. The action is lower than some of my electrics with no buzz. Effortless soloing. If you need info or just want to "talk", Abe Wechter answers your mail personally.
I believe he was a designer for Gibson. I play mine thru a Fender Acoustisonic and I really can't stress how great is sounds with no feedback. So, you can show off your expensive guitars, or buy one of these and get the best amplified acoustic tone. close [-]

I'm very happy with this guitar. When I ordered it I figured I'd either love it or hate it (having never played a double-cutaway before). And, I loved it!

You can access all 22 frets ... read more [+]just as easily as you could on an electric. Plus, it still sounds really great. I haven't played a better sounding acoustic anywhere in this price range.

If you're looking for a guitar in this price range and you think you may need to access the upper frets, then this is definately the guitar for you. close [-]

A truly versatile work of art...

To save you the trouble of reading the rest of this review, I've summed it up in two words...BUY IT. The access afforded by the double cutaways to the upper portion of the neck is outstanding; t... read more [+]he action is like that of an electric, fast and natural feeling; and the finish... Let me just say no photo can do it justice. And if you like to play plugged in, you can find your own sound easily with the onboard electronics and 3 different pickups to mix, match and blend to your heart's content. All in all, you can find more expensive guitars, but you won't find a more versatile or better playing one... close [-]
