Many see this as a Strat copy and at first so did I. When I tried one, it was confirmed it is and isn't. The quality is PRS, so second to none. I have an SC245 and Fender John Mayer Strat which bot... read more [+]h are comparable in finish and quality. The Pick ups on this were a scary proposition to me since I would be stuck with them, being odd sized but the verdict is a good one. While they are single coils, they are very quiet. Even with and OD pedal on, they still keep things pretty quiet. They have some noise, they are single coil, but overall very "noiseless".January 4, 2013 Music Background: Hobbyist, semipro musician, cork sniffer The sound is a deeper strat sound. Not to "spanky" as strats can be with the mids seeming a little scooped. It is what many call a "creamy and silky" tone. When running an OD you get plenty of bite and crunch. Sustain for days, in part due to the solid body and set neck. The neck is thicker than a C shape strat, but thinner than a Wide/Fat or Pattern neck on a PRS. The DGT frets are fatter than Medium jumbos but not as tall as 6105s. Easy to bend, easy to chord and the satin neck finish allows for fast movement and easy playing. Overall, this is not a "Strat" killer. I don't think it's meant to be or if it is, PRS came out with something different in the process. People need to look at this as a different option in the world of guitars. I see it more as a single coil Custom 22 than a Strat. You can get Strat sounds from this, but you get something also in between a Strat and a humbucker guitar leaning more towards Strat territory. close [-] PRS 305

I just got my 305 in the mail. After months of research I finally decided on a Paul Reed Smith 305. These pickups definitely have some b****, the sustain is ridiculously good. This guitar blows any strat I have ever played out of the water. December 25, 2012 Music Background: Pro Musician, guitar, piano, bass The craftsmanship is superb, (attention to detail.) The action is perfect, and the maple neck is extremely comfortable. close [-] Great guitar

Received this one from Sweetwater over a week ago. Instrument arrived with an excellent set-up and packing job. Sustain is above average as expected. Traditional soloing is effortless; chord changes are much easier. I personally don't have to fight against this guitar like some of my others. This is my first Strat-like and single-coil based guitar and am very happy with the purchase. And as always, Sweetwater delivers a great buying experience. close [-]
